Default Focus shockers and springs

http://www.proven.com.au/download/sp...us-rsx-kit.pdf

I was looking at this but I am sure there are more brands out there.

Can you link them here please as I need adjustable front shockers and springs please?

HERE are some good options (not all for 2005 model but check the manufacturers for an updated list of products)

Yeah if you're willing to spend, definitely the Bilstein or the Eibach coilovers.

I have used Spax previously in my SportSedan and they seem pretty good.

O.K. I have leaned a lot here.

For the front shocks on a 2006 + model with the 52mm Upright / Knuckle. -

DamperTech.co.uk can do adjustable coil over and rebound for about $900

or

Adjustable coil, Rebound and Bump for $1500 (incl $200 odd in duty and GST!!!! [check it first]) delivered to Melbourne.

These are GAZ shocks. GAZ are ok but there are better and a lot worse out there.

Dampertech get a good rap from many kit car builders.

I am looking at a local engineering mob who do Bilstein, so more soon. The issue I have with these is you have to pull them apart to adjust the bump and rebound. There is no external knob like many other manufacturers on the cheaper models.

You're probably aware, but I've read on here that the Focus requires a rear camber kit when lowered > 30mm.

PS - why is the adjustable set up required? Are you taking it to the track?

Thanks for the tip but mine is a little different.

I hope to build this.

Here is my power plant. 2006 Ford Focus. TORQUE and POWER perfect for this sort of car.

Double wishbones on the rear are problematic. McPherson Strut will work better.

Here is a balsa test chassis to meet the Australian Design Rules on stiffness.

Hot glue and balsa about 300mm long. A few more changes to make.

Haha just a little different to a Focus! Very impressive.

Good luck with the build mate. You'll have to keep us updated.

Will do.

The Duratec motor in a Caterham (Lotus 7, Westfield, Arrow, kit car ) is the 5th fastest around the Top Gear Track.

Ford Focus has an Awesome motor.

It is a great engine, even Cosworth realised its potential and has produced a truckload of performance parts for it. Speaking of which, are you thinking of modifying the engine in any way?

I've seen that top gear clip, brilliant. Have you seen the Fifth Gear review of the Caterham CDX vs the Renault R26-R? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRLefZIINCo The Caterham is a rocket, and a real handful!

I will look at the links, Thanks.

I am going to keep it standard. Mainly for ADR compliance.

The main issue I have had is getting the right front end. I think I solved it but finding a Toyota Supra front but it will need a few mods for the ABS and 5 X 108 PCD to fit my Focus wheels on.

Supra on the left and Focus on the right.

The main issue is getting the top ball joint fitted in place of the McPherson struts. I would need to make a bracket to go from the old shocker clamp back towards the wheel.

I am still tempted to use the McPherson strut on the rear but mounting it will be the challenge.

How keen are you on using the Focus wheels? 5x108 is a rare PCD, so it may be easier to use the Supra PCD, as more wheels will be available for you if you wish to change them in the future, eg. racing wheels.

You make a good point.

I was at a wreckers today and had a better look at the Ford Taurus. It has the 108 PCD. Better still it has bolt on bearings. Unfortunately the CV joint spline is larger. ( Taurus V6 )

Taurus. The bearing bolt on. The upright is aluminuim too so very light.

Focus front - the bearings are pressed in.

The Supra rear has the larger spline. I need to do a lot of research on getting custom CV joints made up. Not a way I want to go. Add thinking music here.

As for the wheels. These ones on the Focus are very light anyway. I am keen to use them. I like the look too.

Has anyone painted them for a different look. If so please post a picture.

There is lots of parts from Uk mob called Burton Power.
A bloke in Adelaide uses the Duratec for Clubmans he builds.
I went to his workshop(Jaguar) and he had paper work for a bolt on Quad throttle body for the Duratec, a 50Hp Bolt on!!
Heres a link to BurtonsHere
