Anyone else see this after the AFL Grand Final? Shows the Everest, Mondeo and Mustang with flashes of "coming soon", "guess who we are" and "you could be the first to own one. Cool ad, hopefully it gets some airtime and piques people's interest in these new products and the brand.

Not a bad ad and on during a highly viewed event, I was nearly as surprised as when I saw a Ford ad during the last V8 supercars broadcast. I entered the competition, would be awesome to win a mustang

Disagree big time. I think it had people thinking and the cars were almost as good looking as the final score line of the AFL GF. sadly while local car production will end I think Ford is taking the future head on and lately there has been a massive jump in marketing on the radio etc. Must say I was already delirious after the MIGHTY HAWKS destroyed the Swans and sat bolt upright when I realised it was a sneak peek of the Everest.

So...no Fusion...?
But, watching it, yes, it's a bit lame. Where's the Ford name or badge? (yes yes, I know it's a competition...but...) Car buyers are, for the massive majority, "badge blind" these days. Gone are the days of "dad had a Ford and his dad had a Ford so I have to buy one". They don't care what badge is on it, as long as it does the job, has enough features, and they offer a good deal. Most people would look at that advert and say "They're cars...", and that would be it. They won't even bother entering. I entered it, only because probably only car enthusiasts will bother...I can't see it being a wide spread huge number of people entering. Last edited by 2011G6E; 27-09-2014 at 09:24 PM. |

They looked new, fresh and there are still plenty of people who would still be interested in cars that look the goods. Just a short teaser for things to come

Oh yes I know the point of it was to guess the maker...but fewer and fewer people these days bother much with brands and makes. They look at styles of cars...hatch, sedan, small SUV, fourbie, etc. Makers names play very little part...the price tag is what most people start with nowadays.
I'd happily have any of those three. Of course I'd prefer the Mustang... |

I'm willing to bet you could show non car people that as and once they saw the Mustang they'd know it was a Ford. My mum and grandmother knew, and those two barely know cars have wheels. No Ford logo is the point.
For the ones that don't like it, it would be interesting to know how you would promote Ford Australia post local manufacturing... |

I think its a great ad, saw it twice today during the football and the news. Falcon fans who can't get over the fact the Falcon is done and dusted won't like it.
Ford need to get buyers to change the perception about the Ford brand and get buyers to look at and consider their products. Get buyers interested and get them to recognise that they have best in class products. Ford is not just Falcon. Everest, Mondeo and Mustang look fantastic.

Five of us saw this Ad while watching the footy together and I was the only one who knew what the cars were, let alone who made them.
The Ad worked for me but a lot of people just have no interest what so ever in cars. I wonder if the idea is to entice those who wish to enter the comp to get on-line and find out what they are. |

It was great to see during such a big occasion and the Mustang teaser looked terrific.

With Ford scrapping local manufacturing I've become a lot less of a blue blood. I understand the reasons why it's happened and know they needed to do it to survive, but to me Ford Australia is dead and has been replaced with Ford USA - just another import company. This ad does nothing for me and I can't get into the mind set of looking forward to the newest product they put out.

Ford Australia has got two spots on the home page of the Sydney Morning Herald website this morning including right at the top.
Ford is at least trying to get the reader’s attention and who could resist clicking the Ad when it’s offering the chance to win a car. Good marketing to target those who don’t live and breathe the brand by trying to get them to look a little further into the competition. |

I'm sure Holden tried a similar strategy a few years ago. I recall filling out a survey and answering questions about an unknown car then an invite to arrange a test drive of the 'mystery' car. Was an upper model Commodore if I recall.
This on Ninemsn: About time they did some decent marketing. Fingers crossed it works!

According to surveys, one in three people in Australia still believe FMC in its entirety is leaving Australia, not just local production.
This campaign has been produced to not just showcase new product, but to also make people aware that Ford is not leaving. I think it's brilliant.
