Default How do you remove the back seat from an EF?

Hey guys, as the title suggests I'm looking for some help in removing the back seat from my grandfather's EF.

Reason being that the welds that the bootlid struts are bolted to have broken, and the bootlid no longer stays up.

He had the same problem in his old EA Ghia, and it fell on his head twice, causing him to need brain surgery.
At 87 years old he has lost the confidence to attempt this job himself (and we won't let him anyway), so being the resident Ford geek in the family the job has fallen to me. :

I've removed X series seats before, but I'm assuming with the split/fold rear seat the procedure is a little different.

Instructions and helpful hints would be muchly appreciated!!

bottom seat cussion requires you to push the seat back and lift it up, its held down with hooks that should undo when u push it.
the 2 fold down sections are held on with bolts at that base of the seat, unclip the boot carpen and you should see them.
finally, the side boulsters have a bolt at the bottom (won't see it until the sear cussion is removed) then you slide it up to unhook it.
that should be it :P

Sounds like it actually isn't that much different from the X series seats.
I did have a little look around at it before, but probably won't attempt it until tomorrow.

I assume this is the same for EA to ED? Mine have gone as well. I will be doing this start of december when i get some spare time.
Has anybody done this repair before? Do you get in there with a mig welder? Or drill new holes and bolt it up, or just screw the bracket in?

Its happened on Rmyers EA too, i had a look at it the other day, not sure how u could re attach it, but i can't imagine it being that hard.

The approach should be the same for all eseries.

My father can weld, and has a full workshop, so once I get the seat out he will have a look to see what can be done. Otherwise, it's off to the local Ford dealer to stuff up.

i'd be inclined to say, heavy boot lid, age, vibrations...
plenty of reasons for it to come loose.
still sucks though :/

Well, everything is now back in and fixed up.
The weld on the plate that the gas ram is connected to broke away from the frame, and left the whole lot hanging in the boot.

After pulling a lot more of it apart than we first anticipated, we found the easiest solution was indeed to drill a couple of holes and bolt the plate back onto the frame.

Now he's going to have to get a new gas ram as well, as the guts are falling out of old one.

Good work. I suppose if im going to do the same I may as well buy new struts as well,
but, cbf factor is high.
