Exclamation Henessey F-150 Raptor 6x6 Concept.

''Texan tuner, Hennessey, has released two new images of its next creation -- a six-wheel concept pick-up truck based on Ford's latest F-150 Raptor.

Called the VelociRaptor 6x6 concept, Hennessey's wild six-wheeler comes with uprated suspension, new 20-inch wheels, redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new roll bar and an LED light bar.

Oh, and pricing 'starts' at $US295,000, or about $387,000 at today's currency exchange. That sort of coin could buy you a rear-drive Lamborghini Huracan... But it wouldn't be able to navigate the Canning Stock Route like Hennessey's monster.

Based on a 2017 Raptor crew cab pick up, the upgrade buys you 6x6 locking rear axles and under the bonnet it's thought the VelociRaptor packs the standard Raptor's 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that in the regular pick-up truck produces 330kW/691Nm. After some typical Hennessey tuning the VelociRaptor 600 Twin Turbo model should produce around 450kW/1000Nm.

Channelling that power, if it can still cope with that level of torque, is likely to be Ford's new 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Hennessey says the boosted model will cost an extra $US22,500 on top of the price $US295,000 rig. That's big bickies in anyone's language but Hennessey seems confident of finding buyers.

"Our VelociRaptor 6x6 is pure aggression on wheels – all six of them," boasts US tuner Hennessey.

"The new 2017 Raptor is going to be one of the best all-around trucks ever built. We are excited to help take it to the next level both in terms of performance and exclusivity."

While the F-150 Raptor could be on sale Down Under in a matter of months thanks to right-hand drive conversion company Harrison F-Trucks, it's not known if Harrison F-Trucks has any plans to import the VelociRaptor 6x6.

If it does, expect the VelociRaptor to cost considerably more than the hefty $140,000 charged for a right-hand drive F-150 Raptor, particularly with prices of almost $400,000 expected in the US.'

I can just imagine people in the ADR's offices minds popping seeing that.

Pretty awesome.

More = Better in USA.
Maybe Hennessy can take that approach and make a Hennessy Ranger Raptor. But put a decent engine in it.

Why not?

The ADF had 6x6 Perenties and now have 6x6 G Wagens. There would have to be alot of practical advantages to the added axle like extra payload and traction. Im not sure how many VelociRaptor buyers would still be using the truck like how Ford intended the Raptor to be used, but those who do im sure woukd find value in the 6x6.

the *only* advantage you get from a third axle in an application like that is the added load carrying capacity....

this and the fact that adding a lazy axle instead to a 4x4 , well you may just as well use a 2x4 instead as the lazy will assist you in getting bogged
so if you want your 4x4 with improved weight this is the way , but seriously I cat see it being needed as if some one getting one of these needs the extra weight ability

my understanding was that the vehicle is a proper 6x6

yep that's why I was stating the reason they don't use the lazy

they've made it a tri axle ~ more than likely do to adding the extra weight factor

but they used an extra drive axle instead of a lazy due to the points I said as the lazy would just help hinder the vehicle in 4x4 mode

but to me adding the extra weight factor to a 4x4 is some what redundant , tho you may find some that really want to multi purpose the vehicle
or a mr plow
