Default Best place in Melbourne for a beer..

Hey all you Vics,
Im heading over to Melbourne for an engagement partay this weekend and shall arrive in your fine city at 7am tomorrow... Ive a few hours to kill and thought it would be nice to have a look around and a nice beer and feed for lunch.
Im sure there would be a few interesting places around town that would be well worth a visit so any advice would be most welcome. Im not too fussed if its a bit grungy and your feet stick to the carpet (I call it character!!) as long as the beers cold and the foods fresh.
Any ideas?
Mal K

PS We used to have lunchtime strippers in Perth, but that got canned a long
time ago..

Yep, what LTDHO said ..... Casino is good place to kill some time and don't need to spend. Heaps of places for a beer and for cheaper but really good eats I had a burger at the new place on the corner opposite Jeff Shed. Cant remember the name? American style and were very YUM and good value

Hey Dr Jeckkyl,
Yes, The Peel did have strippers, unfortunately they were of the male variety.!!
Nevertheless, I made a point to slip $50 into their leopard-print G-strings and also your mobile number and latest address..
Interesting place indeed..
