While looking for a new car, I'm looking at values of cars, and am wondering what is more accurate, Redbook or Glass's Guide. Redbook values cars for less than Glass's, but people tend to use Glass's prices to price their cars up. Thus, I have no idea what to trust. Could you please help me out?
Thank you |

Insurance Cos generally use Glass'. Dealers will always quote Redbook to talk you down. Redbook is a crock!

If you are wanting to start up a fire or need a paper weight, Red book for sure.
Vehicle values for cars between new and 15 years - Glasses Guide. Anything over 15 years, nothing available.

Redbook can be good sometimes and other times it completley misses the mark. Most often it undervalues due to using the prices people "say" they pay (i.e. they are marked down to avoid stamp duty with the RTA and also to get bigger tax returns with the ATO).

You can see the Glass's values on CarsGuide and Drive though (not that I trust those sites)

The market moves too fast for these "experts" to keep up. By the time the ink is dry on the pages, the prices have changed. Do it the old fashioned way, and ring around.

hmm... to be honest I have found them pretty much equal. I've used both RB and Glasses over the last few months and they have valued the same cars at the same price
