Default OldFalcons.com - Submit your car.

Hi. I have for some time now wanted to make a website full of information about older model falcons, or the X-series falcons to be more exact. Im now at the stage where I can start adding cars to this website ive made. It has a section for a gallery, restorations, guides and information. The basic design is done, and now all I need is content.

That means anyone with a ford from the year 1960 to the year 1988 can submit their car. I do this for free, its for people to admire the cars and see what it takes to restore one. I will take time with each individual car. So far I only have one XR on the site just so everyone can get an idea of what it will be like.

If your interested in submitting a car, a guide, or anything else then post your interests here or in a PM. I'm also going to go on lots of runs, get photos and make that gallery very big. You can see the way its set out if you click the gallery button. Anyway, I look forward to adding the cars. And if you are interested, the more information the better. Its good to have alot of images, but if there isnt much info then theres not much to go with the pictures.

At the moment the websites default page is the restorations page, on the right side drop down menu, select "modified" to see the first car on there, the 1967 XR. Alot of links dont work at the moment as there is no content yet. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Phill

Im aware of xfords. But its a club for XD's XE's and XF's. What im doing is completely different. Its a showcasing site. For example, where on that site do I find a gallery of XY falcons? Or a ZD restoration? Im not out to make another AFF clone forum with little other content. Pretty irrelevant.

By the way if you are submitting a car, theres a difference between the gallery and the restorations section. The gallery with have a little description of your car, then as many photos as you would like, while restorations is text accompanied by photos as it goes down the page.

Falcon Phill, what resolution are you running? at 1280x1024 the whole thing looks rather small in the center of the screen. good idea btw.

Im running 1280 at home, and smaller at work. The last site i made was 'too big' so ive gone for a smaller approach that will fit on every res.

Cant wait for those ZD pics, I need something else to add at the moment.

yes mate, that's where i got mine from. i think they sound fine. i'm not real happy with the head unit though, probably because i was too used to my last head unit which was the (almost) top of the range in dual din cd/mp3 players. the usb input on the new one is really handy though, and that's all i use now. the 4x6 fit straight in perfectly... i hate it when people cut holes through their kick panels (no offense anyone), then you end up with a speaker in the way when you want to press the accelerator. the 5x7's were not quite as smooth to fit, but they fitted in the end with the help of long screws. basically, the speakers are invisible from inside the car.

back on topic, Falcon_Phill, what do you plan to have in the "Guides" and "Information" sections?

Things that people find hard, regular questions. How to paint a car, what not to do, things that are annoying and fiddly. Anything that anyone can add really. The information section will have colour code sheets, model info, and best of all cars that you can create. Its in flash, and you can get like an XY and choose what wheels to put on it, change the color and all that kind of stuff. Its going to be cool when im done.

People still rely to heavily on 800 x 600 users, when all LCD monitors are set to at least 1024 x 768 as default resolution.

Its around 90% of the screen on 800 x 600 so it shouldnt be too much of a problem for anyone, unless they use an insane high res, which i dont see much of a use for.

If enough people complain about the size then I will change it, but I think its cool small and compact, it dosnt really need to be big.

Ok. If you go to the site now, then click gallery, then click XP's in the drop down menu you can see how the gallery pages are set out. You dont have to have it like this, thats just how I had it for my car. Adding an XT wagon now.

Go to the site, click on gallery, then pick XM-XP's from the right menu and look at the XP. Thats how my car is set up, all i NEED is pics and the info up top, the story in between is up to you. It can be about how you came about to wanting one, or what its like to drive, or nothing at all if your not interested.

It probably looks like i havnt been working on it, but ive been going through hundreds of scripts trying to get things that will make updating the site easier.
