Default Car Stands

I currently have my ute on car stands, does anyone know if you leave the car on them too long if the chassis will warp or bend over time.

I have three stands supporting the diff (one under the housing and the other two just under the leaf spring clamps behind the wheel) and I have 2 more on the jack points at the front of the car.

Does this pose any problems for me. I just want to make sure as I don't want to have to put my car in a jig to straighten it out if it bends.

Any help would be great.

I'm not sure about damage to the chassis, but in AMC mag issue 16 (for those of you playing at home), they had an article on how to store your car properly.
The only thing they say about having your car on stands is "to let the car gently rest on it's tyre, not hanging there with it's tyres drooping down"

How long is it going to be on stands for?

Cheers

I put my stands under the chassis rail and put a couple of small dents in it... I guess that wasn't the correct place? Same spot worked fine on my old Toyota.

I can't see why it would pose a problem being on stands for only a few months. If it was a year or two i could see one.
Thats probably why AMC say to rest it on the tyres a bit, so the chassis doesn't take all the weight.

If your after the article, here are scans for it. It has some good info which you may find helpful:

Me too. It was in the right place but on a sedan, being a monocoque design doesn't run a traditional "chassis rail"

Most of the chassis stands you buy are shaped like this \_/ at the top and aren't wide enough for the "chassis rail" to sit inside, hence the dents.........

Thaks for the offer Doug, I should be ok for the wheels as I have put down a deposit on some race track mags, which I will be buying soon.

I understand what you're saying... but the box sections under the floor are still called chassis rails.
