Tassie is great for romantic getaways. Did it last year in August and had a great time.

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel that overlooked Port Arthur which was ok but nothing flash. Then the next 2 nights in a heritage listed place in Richmond called "The Armory". It was fantastic, we will be going back for sure.
(Its the one on the left. Its not actually a "bed and breakfast", its a self contained unit with everything in it. Free port and chocolates too.. and they supply all the stuff like milk, juices, coffee etc. Stunning place overlooking the Richmond bridge. “LOCH LOMOND” - 47 BRIDGE STREET- “Loch Lomond” is a pair of conjoined cottages thought to have been associated with the building of the Richmond Bridge. The cottages are one room wide and two deep. For many years, the building had only one door. The building is now used as colonial bed and breakfast accommodation.

Just come back from a week on the Sunshine Coast. The further Sth we drove the more clothes we had to put on.
Novatel Twin Waters Resort up there has a special on untill early July (I think) $130 a night a room with brekky. Stay 5 or more nights and get a free upgrade to a king size room. (and you get your car personally guarded by an FF member who works in security there )

Hey Lisa, do you mean anywhere in Aus?
Sunshine Coast, as mentioned above, is nice. I liked it better than the Gold Coast. A romantic week in the snow might be nice this time of year: Hotham, Buller, Thredbo etc - nice little cozy room with an open fire with the snow falling outside..... (This is my personal choice - we have decided for our honeymood we are going to Switerland and Austria).... Uluru could be nice, as an alternative to the cold. Nice walks and even day drives from there, which is nice with your special person, and good opportunities for photos too. Coober Pedy is an interesting place, if you stay in one of the underground motels which have rooms like caves. And there are opals to buy..... The Flinders Ranges here in SA is nice too, very "outback", and more for camping and 4wd but also do-able in a regular car and there are some nice places to stay up there. Awesome scenery and sunsets! You could always pick a capital city of your choice, pick a nice luxury hotel and just stay there and get pampered together for a week, and eat in their nice restaurants etc, maybe pick on near the beach or with great views, and get a room with a spa... Just ideas..... Jac

I'd love to travel Tassie though ... that's on my To-Do list.

Halls Gap in the Grampians. Plenty of places there that are secluded and cater especially for "special" getaways. Boronia Peak Lodge is one place that comes to mind, theres nothing more romantic than a spa bath by an open fire while its bloody freezing outside.

I have been to both ... and Daydream Island is very CRAP.
Children and old age pensioner groups mainly ... not to mention bars and restaurants that close at 8pm ... service is crap ... rooms aren't cleaned properly. The list goes on. I definitely suggest not to go there. Trust me ... hee hee Hayman is the more exclusive one ... and further out. There's always something to do on Hamilton Island ... and the restaurants are awesome ... the views are great ... a hell of a lot more activities ... and golf buggies :hihi:

Another vote here for Tassie. Anywhere in Tassie except Launceston (apologies to anyone that lives there...).

there is a great spot in the blue mountains called studio cottages, they are self contained cottages that are really comfortable and well priced, if you want a private weekend away it is almost perfect. we got engaged there. great for those romantic drives/walks around the scenic blue mountains, also have open fireplaces in the cottages. mmm toasty warm!

Well seeing as you must live down that way, go stay in Scotts Head for a few nights. Find a nice place, and youll love it. There are great walks around, some good surf spots, and everything you need in a small town.
Or if you want one a little further away, Yamba is a lovely spot.

Karijini National Park is the most under-rated tourist destination in the country. Just a bloody long way from anywhere!
I believe Cairns and Phillip Island the most over-rated. For just two of you though and if you like driving twisty roads then Tassie is roadtrip mecca.

We had our honeymoon on Norfolk Island and really enjoyed it, there's enough to keep you occupied for at least 10 days and you don't pay "resort prices" for everything.
The Cook Islands are another place if you just want to lie on a beach, they operate on NZ currency so it's cheap as well. Tassie is also a great place to visit except for the cold and the rain. Regards, Tote
