I have a 97 EL Fairmont, and I was just wondering what would be the cheapest way of making the car sound louder and tougher.
I have a chrome tip waiting, but I was wondering whether there would be a easier way of making a bigger difference. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

Get a 2.5" catback exhaust with 1 muffler in the middle and its up to you if you want the tailpipe to be straight through or with a hotdog.
My exhaust is 2.5" catback with 1 muffler and a hotdog, heres a sound clip to give you an idea of what it sounds like:

I recently got the same thing but with only a single muffler to make it sound even louder. For a 2.5" catback system you're looking at about $250-300.

That sounds nice... If you really want to go a little further with the note, then some extractors/headers will make it a bit more throaty... but you will be looking at...
$300-$350 for the Catback 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust ~$500 for Pacemaker Headers (adds power aswell ) Thats fitted ready to go.

Should be getting extractors soon, there Pacemakers, not sure what model as I'm getting them off a car from the wreakers...$120!! But watch my workshop build for that in the upcoming weeks!
Catback will be as said around the $250 - $300. You may be able to find a second hand setup cheaper. Watch the For Sale section.

Cheapest and easiest tough sounding mod is a pod filter or open airbox..
Cheers, Nik
