get ya hands dirty and have a go Tommi, only way to learn. Changing belts on the EA-ED's is pretty easy. I'm not sure which belt you're talking about ?

Good luck.

Damo mate, yeh he can get his hands dirty, but this one is a B-Stard. Its the belt that is around the closest pully to the engine, on a 2 belt pully. So he has to take the 1st belt off, before he can replace the broken one, if ya dunno wot ya doin (like me most the time) it can turn into a nightmare very quick lol
But tru tru, no other way to learn!

this was a damn long day:P

i decided to take SupahStah's idea of driving it until it heats up and pulling over to let it cool...well we did that, the car overheat every 1km with distances getting shorter each time, we only had parkers on aswell so the main beam didn't drain the battery

so just after we turned off princess hwy it over heat again so we done our usual technique, jumped out filled up the water, but this time the battery was dead, so thats where the car sits atm we took the battery home to charge and plan to start moving early tomorrow as it will be cold and take time to heat up

we are only like 2km from home now so it should be home in no time

so far what i've found wrong is:
-> belt needs replacing
-> radiator is cracked badly down the side

By the sounds of it, there would be no harm in forking out to join.

That would have been the smarter option mate.

I would suggest with what you have mentioned perhaps get some part time work save for your own car, join the racv
and you will benifit from the exercise.

$200- for a tow truck for a 2km tow? That I highly doubt!!! :dr_Evil:
I've never paid more than $50- for a tow truck including pick up, kms and drop off.

paid 40 to get my car towed 30 od kms on a flatbed when it blew the top radiator hose - cheaper than hiring a trailer!

I know it's a bit late to post now, but just out of interest, what was the topography of the area the ED died in? If the roads were flat, why not ahh-tss-push-it!

I'll assume either A) it was uphill, or B) this option didn't spring to mind

Or, you could've walked home, gotten another car, asked the neighbours for a tow rope (or gone to autobarn, ignoring getting a belt from there) and towed the ED the rest of the way home?
