Default Headgasket

Well i have blown my headgasket : not fun! Does anyone have a rough estimate on how much it would cost to get someone to it? machined, crack tested?, gaskets replaced etc

Also any workshop recommendations in the SE suburbs?

Probably be about $1100-$1500. If you had a crack at it yourself you could do it for anything between $100 and $500 depending on what you get done to the head if anything.

If you get it done professionally make sure they put the Tickford head back on (distinguished by a 'T' at the front of the head behind the belt cover). Most places don't know this and you may end up with a standard head.

Have fun.

Well i was quoted $1046 at one place including all the necssary head parts and tests etc, replace thermostat, new bolts etc and to actually remove the radiator from the car and check it all out and comes with a 12month/20 000km warranty, not bad. Another qoute of $1100 but not 100% sure what that includes, has the same warranty......but i get a free major serice (parts extra) at that place because i have this card thing hmmmm decisions.

Although could be more if heads cracked hopefully not.

$600 for a head gasket is what my son (EF) and I (EL) paid

$1100+ for a head and gasket is what my other son paid (EB).

Shouldnt cost much more than $700 to have a head gasket done. $800 if they are including a radiator rodding.

New heads can be had from ford for arround $400 i believe. May be better off using a new casting.

Mate, for $1000 like in the above messages, you should get a drive in drive out operation with bonuses. A rough price if you take of the head an fit it back on, you should be looking at $350-$550 including all the required gaskets, crack repaired etc.

If you want details of the performance mob that specialises in these kind of repairs Pm me.

Nio sure bout the prices in vic but in SA at the ford joint where i work ya look at about 800 for just a gasket and head test basic. it can then go from there if ya need a reco head i think repco slogs us as a company $550 for a full recon blah blah blah, so they would prob slap another 100 on that and sell it to u for 650 + labour and ya would hit about 1200+ plus fair easy.

Well got it done for $1000 drive in/drive out. This includes all the new parts, testing, labour etc and they actually look for the cause and check all components to ensure they know what caused the problem as to avoid in the future. They also pulled the radiator off the car and send it off to specialists to check etc, turns out the radiator was fairly blocked got that all done in the included price.

So fairly happy with their service i know i could of got it done for a bit cheaper but these guys are very professional and do their job well, they also proviode a 12 month/20 000km Australia wide warranty. There was also no damage to head which is good, got it at an early stage :
