The Headlights on the barge are getting a little hazy and I'd like to try cleaning them.
I know there are a number of Headlight cleaning kits on the market but has anyone used one that they would recommend or ones to stay away from ?

I used Meguiars PlastX on my headlights mate as mine had hazed up too..
Seemed to do quite a good job of cleaning them up.. I applied it by hand.. From memory its around $20 a bottle..

2 for meguiars plastx.......lady friend used it (after I recommended a recommendation from Dave) on a hyundai
lights were very bad.....first go made 100% difference, second made them like new

From what I've read most use a system with sandpaper then coat the lens with a liquid, but the Megs one is just in a bottle. Correct ?

Plastx will do the trick on hazy head lights with a few applications. If they have started to craze and get micro cracks in them you will need to use wet and dry to remove the crazing and then a couple of polishes to remove and then refine the marring left behind from the sanding. Using a machine is fine, but I would only recommend it if you have some experience.

Wolfgang make a good restoration kit that also includes a plastic sealant.
It worked very good on my original headlights, but the sealant needs to be re-applied every 6 months or so to keep the yellowing down. Now I use this method... http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...lant-idea.html Took a little to get used to but works extremely well once your used to it. For this I wet sanded from 600 to 2000, then applied the coat. No polishing required to get a perfect finish. So far the coat I have on my headlights is still going strong after 11 months and nothing extra done to them apart from washing. |

The lights are only very slightly hazy so sounds like Meguiars is the one to go for.

Try RaineX, the stuff you put on your windscreen to make the water bead off. Someone on here recommended it so I tried it, and it worked a treat.
Just put a bit on a rag and rub it on, the rag ended up green from the grime it got off. $10 a bottle. |
