It is so dry down here in Central Vic.

Our last dam has about 1 inch of water left.

Bit of cloud though

Believe me I'm hanging out for this rain, at the moment the bushfires are less than 5km from Glenmaggie, both on the west and the north east, I'm going up there tomorrow night to assess things, so lets hope we get through it!

I was up there last weekend, and it looked shocking out at Cowwarr and Toongabbie. My uncle and aunt were very lucky. They live out near Cowwarr weir on a 5 acre block. The fires actually hit their property, burnt most of the 5 acres, most of their fences, and their wood heap. They saved the house and shed, so they were lucky. Their next door neighbour lost his shed, and their neighbours two properties over lost their house. Glenmaggie looked OK (besides the lack of water). My parents are fine at Maffra. The fire hasn't reached Maffra, but the smoke sure did. It was actually pitch black at 3.00pm on one day last week. It looked like the middle of the night, except that it wasn't. I'm going back down again this weekend, for Christmas. Maybe we can catch up if your down for the entire weekend, and you're not too busy

Good to see some parts of the country getting rain - a little late for the main winter croping period of southern Australia but still helpful all the same for summer cropping systems.

Sometimes I don't think city people realise the impact that the drought has had on country/rural areas....

One of our growers bought water from an irrigation scheme last season for $2500/ML (and he bought LOTS of water). This year he has been told he is allowed only 5% of the water he bought, yet he still recieved a bill for the total amount, which he has to pay... twice the annual average Australian wage to pay for something he will never see/benefit from...

I find weatherzone a bit more informative than the BOM site, shows good rain in adelaide, 17mm just north and 28mm across the bay
