Default rear door lock stuck

Hi,
I seem to have encountered my first problem with my Focus (2004 Zetec). The rear drivers side door lock is jammed - won't work manually with the switch inside, with the key or the button. I don't seem to be able to hear a clunk in the door when I use the central locking.

Seems to me that even if the motor/actuator/whatever was busted in the door the manual button would still work. It won't. I can't lock the car so its a bit of an annoyance right now. Anyone know how I can at least lock the door and keep it locked? Anyone had a similar problem?

I had a look on some of the overseas Ford forums and it appears to be a common problem - didn't really find any answers though, short of taking off the door panel (no!!!).

Cheers, Iain.

No one experienced this?

Finally I got it to lock and set my remote to only unlock the drivers door. Seems like the solenoid in the drivers side rear is faulty and will only work sometimes. I think I'll take the door lining off and soak the electrics in contact cleaner - my default with electrical problems!
