Default site trouble

This is going to sound incredibly strange, and it seems impossible! but its happening

as of about last night sometime, I have had a shyte load of trouble with AFF....trying to load up the site initally is impossible at times, although it is working fine for other members (asked them on msn) and even worked on the 2 other computers downstairs that share this net connection.

viewing threads from the email notifications is impossible, and the forum just fails to load after clicking the link. it finishes at a plain white screen, and says "done" (therefor no longer trying to load)

I have tried the following
cleared cache
cleared cookies
tried IE instead of firefox
uninstalled and reinstalled firefox....

nothing seems to work.

to get here this time, i typed in the address in the browser without using any link or bookmark etc...but didnt bother trying to log in. As soon as i try to log in, it gets stuck on the page saying "proceed" etc....but it wont proceed from that point.

this is basically the first forum i was able to open to without the page failing to load

any help would be appreciated, as i have 60+ email notifications building up, and i cant view the threads...
thanks

I've been having trouble occasionally too, although I can't be sure if it's the site, the connection (we're now further then we used to be from the telephone exchange and the connections are definately not as good as we used to get, used to always get either 50.6k or 52.0k, now the best we ever get is 49.2k) or just Internet Explorer screwing up.

I sometimes click a link or click the 'Post reply' button and get "Page not found" and can't load any other page on here until I close every IE window, then open a new IE window and log back into the site.

We might re-install Windows soon, there is a fair bot of crap on this machine now and it's just quicker and easier to just reinstall, if the problem still exists after that, I'll post with more information.

PS. Doing the obvious things, such as clearing the cache, cookies and temp files, didn't help. I would try using Firefox, but for some reason it won't let LuvinmyEB log out, so I just use IE for accessing this site.

this is dez....grechie let me use his account to see if it actually is my account thats the problem....and well, i guess this shows that it is....

basically, because i use the "remember me" function when logging in, and firefox saves my passwords....whenever i load up AFF, im logged in as dez....and thats when it wont load...same goes for email notification....

so i just cleared the cache, cleared cookies. removed all saved passwords and net history...and the site loaded up fine, and i looked at threads....

now im logged in as grechie, and its working fine...so it has to be my account

yeah mate its working again...I didn't do anything, it just seems to have started working again, so hopefully it continues this way.

Thanks to XA for looking into it for me (dont know if he ended up working it out or not, but its working)

and thanks to grechie for posting for me, and letting me use his username to test it out

as for the guest thing, i have no idea....I just came on hoping to be able to post this thread, and it came up with posting as unregistered, so i added its dez...

then when i tried to post again in the same thread, to some detail of the problem, it wouldnt let me

clearing the cache etc will make it possible for you to view the forum, but as soon as you try to login in again, it will screw up from there...

I logged in as another member (with their permission) and it worked fine during all this, so it definitely wasn't the computer....

then all of a sudden it started working fine again, and Laminge said he re indexed some tables, and that may have fixed it....Just PM Laminge and see what he can do for you (or HOON69, i missed who you are in relation to him?)

Have you tried changing your password? You could try that and then clean out all the other stuff, cache, cookies etc...do not tick the remember me box either. Only have one AFF page open as well whilst you are doing this. Pretty sure I have seen the same thing over the "other side of the fence!" Will let you logon and then when you try and post or view pages, its claims amnesia!!
After you have changed your password over and then logged in again, tick the "remember me" box.

Of course I am computer knowledge challenged, so if it doesn't work or you have already tried this approach, then I will claim amnesia to this post ever happening!;)

mot...er actually, no idea who typed this!
