Default Wiring Diagram needed for 88 KE Laser Ghia model

Sorry, I couldn't find the most appropriate "Help me!" forum, so I decided to post here.

I recently had my mechanic stepfather transplant the engine from my 88 KE Laser into the body of a 3-month younger Ghia model KE Laser. Basically the luxury model with power steering and the like..

Less than 2 hours after I finally got it registered, it had a hissy fit and refused to start. Smoke started pouring into the cab from the dash. When we pulled the display out and had a poke behind it, we found that one of the wires in the main wiring loop had melted. I'm starting to think it's the wire that connects to the starter motor. Now it starts first try most of the time, but it seems to pick the most inconvenient of times possible to again have the hissy fit. Smoke only comes out if I hold the key on while trying to convince the engine to turn over.

I'm looking for a wiring diagram for this model car so we can attempt a repair. I haven't even been able to find one for the normal KE Laser which wouldn't be a complete help, since this Ghia model has a rev counter, whereas the old car does not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
