Default Anyone running 4.11's and a T5?

hi,

just wanting to know how you fuel consumption is? as from what i've worked out, mine will sit at 2450rpm@100km/h with 4.11's and a standard T5.

i want to go 4.11's as they are better suited but i'm a little worried about the cruising rpm.

thanks
pete j

I know stokeb was running 4.11 but went to 3.9 cos it was bouncing on the limiter at the end of the 1/4 mile, when he had it N/A.

sounds interesting as i just worked all mine out and at 5200 (what mine bounces now) would be 159km/h. but when i do the work i have planned i hope it to make power to at least 6 grand so i should be able to take it to around 180km/h.

and OED666 is using a T5z which has different ratio's (don't have enough money to get one of those).

Plus the t5z is not the 'magic fix for all your gearbox problems' that people have labeled it.

I have to shake my head when I see people posting things like, 'you can't do 13's without a T5Z, thats what OED666 has' (obviously I've never heard someone say those exact words, but you get the picture).

you probably have more chance of a 13 with a normal T5... the gear box ratios are shorter off the line.

EB Pete, if your going a standard T5, get 3.9's. First gear will be useless.
I had an EA box with 3.9's and i didnt use first.

First gear times diff ratio

EA box with 4.11's - 14.385
EA box with 3.89's - 13.615
EB/ED box with 4.11's - 13.768
EB/ED box with 3.89's - 13.031
T5Z with 4.11's - 12.124
T5Z with 3.9's - 11.475

Even an EB/ED box with 4.11's is shorter than an EA box with 3.9's.

Your right about getting 180k's out of 4th at 6000rpm. I have tested this.

From what i've worked out, there should only be around 6km/h difference in 1st gear between a standard T5 with 4.11's (57km/h@6200rpm) and a T5Z with 4.11's (63km/h@6200rpm). it's really the cruising rpm that worrys me, not sure how much more fuel it would use sitting an extra 500rpm up on normal.

yeah i know what you mean. but 1 great thing about it is the difference between 2nd and 3rd. in a T5 2nd is 1.99 and 3rd is 1.29 where as in the T5Z 2nd is 1.94 and 3rd is 1.34, so there isn't that brief stint where the engine struggles until the cam starts to do it's magic (that happens in my car).

yea, the 2-3 gap in a std T5 is a littl ghey.

mine chews the juice when doing 110k's, as opposed to 100k's on the highway.

Rollins car did around 2250rpm at 100. Dont forget your cam might be a little more efficient with a few more revs.?.?.
