Default Won't Idle?

Hey team,

Quick problem with the I6 NL - bastard stalls at idle. Will run ok over 1500rpm. Thought it was the ISC, cleaned it up, didn't help.

Didn't have time to deal with it past that, dropped it in to the mechanic. He says he tested the ISC and it's ok, but the problem is in the computer.

Wants to charge me $600 for a computer change. Thoughts?

Probably could, yeah... But I have no way of knowing if that's the problem until I shell out for an ECU. Plus I don;t have time to go to wreckers - 3rd day of a new job here!

My recommendation would be to hurry up and get you EB runnin, then give the fairlane back to your dad in it's current state. Main advantage of this is that your car runs and his doesn't. ;)

do the NL and EB both have smartlock, or dont have smartlock, if so then swap the ecu's and see what happens, quick easy as well.

I guess you have tried turning the idle screw up?

you dont have to buy an ecu if its not the problem, most wrecking yards would let you try before you buy

the EB is a V8, so a computer swap won't do it...

Am getting the car back off the mechanic tonight. Any forums member in Brisbane want to earn themselves a carton to take the b#tch out to a wreckers and try an ECU swap?
