Default update on the lovely xf of doom *pics added* more to come

well the engine is out finally once out we took the sump off and found a nice little present in the sump..... two pieces of the cam, numerous broken pieces of a piston some severely bent rods two hole one of each side of ther block, a madly butchered crank 4 holes in the sump and 1 huge tear as well. fractures in the block in numerous places number 4 piston has never fired..... Not a bad effort for a hm gem engine that had only done 33000k's since it was installed as a reco.

to add to the damage we found a hole in the bottom of no.6 has a hole in the bore wall just at the very bottom ofthe casting......there has been some piston slap as well in no.6....... what a ****a way to kill an xf 4.1 reco hm gem engine..... cant wait to finish bolting it all back together so they can have another go and i get them outa the brock b4 it dies too

yeah the brock wasnt sounding too happy today.. hope it was just a zorst leak like you thought it was......

well the new engine and gearbox are mounted just gotta finish bolting the gear linkages, tailshaft and exhaust manifold on (plus all the piping and fiddly bits). with the hard bit over with I will get some more pics in the next few days.
