Best Racing - PTCC @ Oran Park, 24/25 November.

At this stage, Darren and his Focus ST170 are entered in the PTCC Round for Oran Park.

It'll be it's first meeting since it's re-build and hopefully the Focus ST170 will be better than ever. Apparently, the Driver has had a re-build and has extracted some weight so the "power-to-weight" ratio should be improved!But the latest news is that the MOTEC ECU isn't "talking" with the the Engine so the team are working hard on solving this problem to ready the car in time.

If anyone's interested in coming out to Oran Park on Sunday (or Saturday for Qualifying) let's know.

There's also an opportunity to have dinner with Best Racing (tbc) on Saturday evening if anyone can't make it to the track.

Update!

Motec fixed, Focus was running on Saturday and went for a road test.

Tommorrow the team are taking the Focus for a test run at Winton, to check that all is okay under race conditions.

Nice hanging out with you guys at the Oran Park. Great to see the ST170 in action, but it was unfortunate the day had to end like the way it did (I'll let Darren or Treena fill you in on that issue).

Hi Everyone,

It was great to catch up with the Euroford members who ventured out the track on the weekend.

We were happy with the Focus's performance on the weekend, even thou we had some minor hick ups! Lack of grip (using old tyres as tyres not available to purchase prior to the event), powersteering issues (broken pipe),minor handling issues and a broken drive shaft.

Saturday practise was very interesting with the cooler weather, we managed to be placed 4th position outright, this all changed once the conditions warmed up and the rain dissappeared, we qualified 4th in class B (10th outright).

Sunday the weather was much warmer, the heat was causing a few issues for some cars. Race 1 finished 4th (powersteering gone after 2 laps), Race 2 finished 3rd (took a hit from the BMW in the front left wheel ,as well as a hit from the 380 in the front bumper and rear right corner (minor panel damage). Race 3 on way to form up discovered something wrong with left front wheel, Darren completed the observation lap and retired the Focus with a broken drive shaft.

Arrived home 1am, after our big 7 hour drive home.

The driveshaft is already repaired, focus ready for next outing which will be at the final Australian Production Car Championship at Sandown Raceway (1 hour endurance event) on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December. We have been told that this will the last ever PCAA event, which is unfortunate it was a great series, at the moment it is unclear as to what will happen with production car racing as we know it.
