You can probably use cruise control, time, and your odometer to see how accurate it is.
I don't know about anywhere else but on 2 of our major roads (that I know of) they have a check for this. They have a sign every km for 5kms and if you can hold a consistent speed you I suppose it would be accurate. You can't do it in peak hour though lol |

Yeah I use the one on the geelong freeway to gauge how quick I am going,
My speedo usually says 110 when I am doing 103. As 103 is the max you can go there I just wait until Im near the speedo checker and then alter my cruise.

To all the do-gooders out there, there goes your "If I stick to the speed limit I am entitled to drive in the right lane on a freeway cause other people should not be speeding and im going to police it myself" mentality because there is a good chance your doing 5-8km/h under the limit, even if you have a brand new car with no mods. If you must be the self appointed speed police, the least you can do is make sure your speed measuring device is accurate, or better yet not break the law yourself and move over when not overtaking.
Im glad I got that off my chest, now I feel much better. |

I know my speedo reads more than what I am doing. It's out by roughly 5km/h.
For example, if it says 100km/h on the speedo, I'm doing 95km/h.

I've got a LR Focus (manufactured in Germany) and have been through there in September this year at a indicated 110km/h on my speedo and the reading said 107km/h.
