Hi, I bought a car in QLD and its rego'd and i live in NSW does anyone have a clue about transferring rego over?? Please tell me everything there is to know... its an old falc.

I think it's something along the lines of 5% of the purchase price for stamp duty ... and then whatever the cost of rego is for your vehicle weight category ... or there abouts. Plus the cost of standard plates as well (I think that's about $30-ish) on top.

I don't like it and think that tif insurance companies wanted to get picky they could refuse them. There's a fine for not transferring over in 3 months. thelast person I encouraged to transfer QLD to NSW registrationhad heaps of hassles. The car was an import and, even though registered in Qld, he had to start new as an import - Engineering cert, weight, .... Did it come with a Qld inspection certificate (whatever they call it)? Mine did and rather than getting another NSW one I just "happened" to be in QLD traveling when the rego was transferred so I had to use that. Saved a few bucks. |
