Default Looking for NSW Exhaust regulations info

Hey guys I've been looking but havent had any luck trying to find the NSW exhaust regulations.

In particular I am wondering where on a ute, the exhuast has to exit. 300mm behind the last passenger exiting door was what i thought, but some seem to think other wise. Which is why I am looking for the rules on the net.

Anyone ????

Depending upon how well you get along with your local guy that does your pinkslip could ask him if you could take a lookie see at their Vehicle Service Bulletins (old name Vehicle Standards Information) - these list permissible mods for ALL NSW registered vehicles - ALL registered inspection stations are required to have a copy of these documents kept ONSITE. (mind you a lot of them don't!!!)
*UPDATE* NSW RTA have FINALLY decided to put this info up on their website (about time too - at one stage they were charging $15a copy per VSI)
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...i/vsi_dl1.html
*UPDATE*
Alternatively you 'may' like to search through the pages on the following site, which is where most of the NSW (and REST of AUS states draft their own regs from)
http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/str_safehome.htm
For a small price you can buy a copy of the ADR's (less then cost of a movie DVD) be warned though - the ADR's make for some extremely dry bedtime reading.

Hmm thanks for the links but i havent been able to find exactly what i am looking for, I'll just come out and ask.

In NSW can i have my dual exhaust pipes dump after the diff?? (eg thats where they finish no tips )
In Nsw can i have the exhaust exit out to the sides either behind the door on the tray skirts (AU ute) or out to the sides behind the rear wheels ????

hmmm, just looked on that RTA site. The VSI that should help you out (used to cover modifications to light vehicles) seems to be not on there atm due to them implementing a 'trial program' for vehicle modification...
I'll have a look see if I can find my hard copy (not gunna be an easy task as Ive recently attempted 'baby proofing' house & cant seem to be able to find ANYTHING)

At the GT Nats I was speaking to a bloke from north of Sydney with an XD V8 ute which had 4 exhausts each side just ahead of the rear wheels, which was legal. He said the exhaust has to be 300mm behind any door or opening window.

I wouldn’t recommend having the exhausts finish underneath the vehicle however.
