I was doing some work on making up a loom for my tickford cluster and was thinking if it would be just as easy to make one to fit a ba cluster? You have all your wires for say lighting the cluster up, speedo, indicators and so on. Would it be juts a matter of having a BA cluster with the loom and matching the wires to your au loom or is it more to it then that? Not sure if I am going to do it as it wont fit in the dash but would be interesting to give it ago and see if I can get it working.
I guess there is more to it then just matching wires and if so what would prevent it from working?

i wouldnt have the first clue but if its possible to change the entire dash to a BA one then id assume the cluster would work as well... my guess is the BEM and or ECU are needed with the cluster but i wouldnt know... i wouldnt mind the whole dash.. AU one is not high tech enough for me to mod

There is a car that was posted up here in the aufalcon.com area that had a BA interior.
Here is the thread: http://fordforums.com.au/showthread....ba+interior+au It would involve some customising. Will you be happy with the 4 guage cluster compared to 6 guage (revs, speed, fuel, temp, volts, oil pressure)

Any thing can be done, it just how much time & money your willing to put into it project. It would be intersting to see what it would look like when your finish, thats if you go ahead with it.

Thanks guys. I would like to go ahead with it but I am sure im probably missing some critical thing here. I mean it couldnt really be as simple as matching wires up could it? I would think there would have to be something to do with the computer as well. Id ask that other guy on fordmods but it looks like he doesnt visit anymore

Iv seen there is a very detailed guide on fordmods on what wires mean what on the au cluster. Does anyone know if there is a similar diagram out there on what pins mean what on the ba cluster?

When BA was introduced so was the CAN bus system.
This included PCM, HIM, BEM, ICC, Cluster and DLC. Information is transfered to all the relevent places along the CAN in binary code. Worst luck the AU does not do this. So to fit just the cluster could be a major money pit. |
