If you are heading to the Gold Coast then the worst thing I've found is the weird yellow lines by the side of the road. Apparently they mean "No Stopping" (or parking) but one that got me had no sign. It did have No Stopping painted on the road but that was a bit difficult to see when another car was parked over it and I reversed into what I though was a normal parking space.

I've noticed there's a lot who indicate to leave a roundabout, even if travelling straight ahead through it?

That one certainly confused me

That was the original law used to state until they changed it recently.

we went to the theme parks last year using the 3 park superpass and the rules have changed for the better. once you use the ticket the 1st time it is validated and then you can go to any of the 3 parks as many times as you want in a 2 week period. dreamworld is not included but is definately the pick for rides. if its hot (or not) wet n wild is a must. esp the new speed slides over near the outback spectacular area. (can't remember the names).

In NSW that law is now "if possible". So, it's the "right" thing to usually do but sometimes you just can't.

(a) My partner booked for 64km/hr in a 60km/hr zone. At the bottom of a hill on Cheltenham Drive in Robina. That isnt 10%. I know many others pinged for 4km/hr over. It seems many of the cops go by the well known (even if not the law) '3km/hr rule'.

(b) a warning sign leant up against the wheel of the 4wd with the cop standing at the 4wd is not a 'warning' sign. Basically, I was saying you dont always get notice that there is a speed detector unit.

Also, with the roundabout/indicator thing. I was taught to indicate left just before you take the exit off a roundabout. ie if going straight on a standard roundabout I dont indicate when coming up to the roundabout or before I am on it. I indicate left when I am past the first exit.

This is how I do it, unless you do the same for any direction ie: no indicator until leaving. Picture a roundabout with 4 roads (a circular +) and I want to turn right. I indicate right as I enter, as I pass the 2nd roads exit, I indicate left. This allows traffic behind me to know what Im doing, as well as the stopped traffic on the side roads of the roundy.

If Im going to go back the way i came (u turn basically), Ill keep indicating right until I pass the 3rd road, then left to exit.

If Im going straight, no indicator as I enter, then left when I pass the first road. This only becomes a drama when someone in the left lane of a two lane roundy wants to turn right, and likes to run right beside me and assumes my lack of indication as he hauled up beside me means Im going where he wants me to.

Obviously I only indicate left if Im taking the first left. I dont see how anyone who thinks can be confused as to what Im doing.

Whats the alternative? Stop indicating when Im facing the road Im going to exit on?

I do the same as you fmc351. It makes perfect sense I think. It means if you are lost and continuing to cirlce the roundabout people will know when you are actually turning off! :P

So if it changed whats the new rule?

I reckon if you asked the Dept of Transport, they couldnt tell you, or youd get five different answers from 5 different staff members. Roundabouts have always been a challenge in Qld.

I seem to recall it being only indicate left once leaving, until then treat it as a separate road from the exits and no indicators. Yeah, makes no sense to me either. Could be worse, when ever you exit its always left, so they could say indicate left as you enter and pull off when you like.

Small roundabouts are even more fun in a 25metre B-Double.
Indicate too soon and the rear trailer is breaking the law. Indicate too late and the Prime Mover is breaking the law : :

yup nsw & qld drivers do it... first time I seen it.. i was like 'they're pulling over' .. but wasn't the case eh...

I'm not sure if you can or can't get booked for failing to indicate leaving a roundabout.. anyone know? I never did it in nsw or qld .. I'll never do it, in fact, I cbf indicating normal turns, meh.

yup - that's the way it should be done. Note you don't need to indicate when leaving if it isn't practical to do so. You must indicate *when approaching* if you are turning left or right.

For Qld drivers:
