Try here:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=82538 LOL

Best for what? Carrying loads? Flat cornering? Comfort? So many variables.

I would go Konis, either the yellow or orange ones. One is adjustable in the car, and one is adjustable only when you take the shock out (not sure which colour does which, but sbutler, T3man or shaynet would know).

As you vary between load and family carrying duties, I would advise stumping up the extra for the in car adjustable ones.

From Konis at the top of the list all the way to the bottom would be Monroe Sensatrac. In between you have Bilstein, Tien, Pedders, Monroe GT gas reflex thingys etc etc. Below Monroe there's not much - Gabriel, I suppose. Standard Ford shocks are made by Monroe, so if this is what you already have, you know why they are on the bottom of the list. They do the job and they're cheap, but that's about it.

You will not believe the difference once you install Konis, adjusted to the perfect setting between sport and comfort.

Ive got 1 year old pedders comfort shockies. They seemed good for the first two weeks then the car went like a boat again.

Can personally attest to the konis in an AU. The fully adjustable one's that is. Excellent ride and turn in.

I just fitted ultra-rides (shortened units) all round to compliment the king springs and I must say I am very happy! Cost around $600 all round inc. fitting.

Id like some adjustables.I will stick some in the back first and see if it helps as the back may be the bigger problem. How much do they cost?

Go to wholesale suspension in penrith and speak to Matt Fisk.

I got my koni's (non adjustables) for $880 from him. But that was for front and rear.

He will help ya out, he always does good deals.

Yep, the ultrarides are new into australia and are supposed to better than pedders offerings.( try a google search) They are yellow in colour so the match the kings springs well! If I have an issue with these shocks I have a guarantee they will be exchanged the same day.I have Super Lows on the front & Super Super Lows on the rear so therefore I chose to use the shortened version of the shocks to compliment the shorter springs.

G'day
I've got KYB adjustables on the Xr8. Fairly firm ride, top adjustable like Koni Yellow, 4 settings.
Cheers

Too right.I only want the best for the wagon and hopefully keep it going until ford produces a newer car which tickles my fancy. The au's are the best modern ford.

The Koni Yellows are the externally adj ones that come with the knob & you just turn the valve at the top of the shock.

The orange (actually Red I think) are adj but you have to remove them from the car to adj them each time you want to change the setting.

I have used both & prefer the yellow's for ease of adjustment.

Afaik ALL Koni shocks are adjustable.

Bilstein & Tein seem to be a more highly rated shock as well.
