Unhappy Really bad problems

Ok heres the story. i was dropping my girlfriend of home and it was raining really hard. then there was this flooded road but i couldnt tell because it was night and raining that hard and i drove straight into it. the oil light came on and when i put my foot down the car shutters. I checked the oil and its fine so thats a not it but when i was trying to get out of this puddle the was a burning smell (smelt like something electrical) and now my left headlight doesnt work but thats got water in it. any help would be really helpful right now

Man that sucks

I would suspect the alternator (although it can handle a bit of water) and the coilpack for starters...

Could the oil light be a water short (or plug knocked off the sender?) and the shudder be wet plug ends?

I'm with turbotaxi on this one with the oil pressure switch ... as it is down on the passenger side of the engine near the engine mount ... probably copped a fair bit of water when you drive into it ... probably even enough to knock the cable off the pin.

i just left everything to dry out for the night and when i started it again the oil light was off but a weird noise is coming from the engine which isnt good. the front left headlight is full of water and has smashed the globes but not that big of a drama. other than that alot better than i thought. the noise from the engine sounds like the belt and it would have got a big clean lastnight

Good news mate, some candle wax on that belt will do wonders.

A bit of CRC on the center of the pulleys will help as well
