Not sure if you know of these bikes or are interested at all.
They are called royal enfield and are basically a 50 year old bike with a few modern things such as electric start and electronic ignition. Anyway http://www.royalenfieldaustralia.com/index.php |

My Dad owned a "Royal Enfield" & an "Indian" , I don't know what year models . He sold one of them to one of the locals when he was "Called Up" for WW2 . He passed away 18 mths ago , so I am unable to find out now . I have some pics of one of them , if anyone is interested I can scan & post it.
Melz - sorry to hi-jack your thread , but would you also like to see a pre-war bike ? Norm

Once owned a Matchless G3, found it very hard to find parts and info for... You'd have more luck with one of the more popular Brit makes like a Triumph or BSA...
Can't really point you anywhere decent on the web, but Brit bike fans and Brit bike workshops are generally very willing to share info - maybe call one of the specialist workshops down your way?

Hiya Melz,
up until around 10 years ago I had imported literally hundreds of British (and some early Japanese) motorcycles from the US. Most of the imports were from around 1960 to around 1975 models. I know a lot about some models and very little about other models but generally know where to get specific info. If you don't wish to be too specific in public, feel free to PM me. If I don't know the answer I can find out without too much trouble. |

Hey guys thanks for your replies. I'm just interested to learn more, I have a few mates that are into veteran bikes and I've been bitten by the bug! Might even get my own one day!
Normxb, I would be very interested in seeing a pre-war bike!

Hi Melz
Sorry the first pic isn't real clear , 60 yrs ago some cameras weren't so good :yeees: , on the back of the photo says "Grid Iron Royle Enfield" Second one is much better , same bike I think , after Dad put the sidecar on . This is with his cousin Dulcie, living "out of town" she always grabbed the chance for a ride to go shopping (girls haven't changed :evil_laug ). I can't find anymore at the moment , but Mum still has a few Albums I haven't seen yet , hoping there may be one of his old "Indian" Both these are pre 1939 (I'm sure this is the one he sold for "2 Pounds 10 Shillings ." (Oh! if I only had it now) Hope you find these interesting. Norm
