Default Cheap mods to my AU1

Hi all!

Just looking at a couple of cheap mods to do to my AU1.

Currently the only performance mods power wise that have been done is a 2.5" cat-back sports exhaust.

I was going to get extractors installed but am allocating these funds to saving towards buying a house.

I was thinking of getting a CAI, 90mm piping from airbox to throttle body, and a hi-flow panel filter. Im estimating this will cost all up around $200.

Now without the extractors, and with the 2.5" cat-back, are these still worthwhile modifications? All I am looking for is improved performance and fuel economy.

The CAI I was looking at is at:

Cheers!

For Starters , that looks like a Standard AU One . So Becareful of that ,

Dude , Worry About the Filter and Intake First , K&N or BMC Filters are the Way to Go as there ReUsable and for the Money You Pay (Around $100) you get back after a while as they Conserve Fuel , and are Washable Wouldnt Worry about 90mm Piping unless its Stainless , as there is really no Need

Yep , Extractors and the 2.5" System is still a Very Worthwile Mod to the AU , Your Car needs to breath , so these are all Worthwile

What Hose are you Saving for ?

Go to Ford and ask for the BA XR6T snorkel - it's the same as the one on ebay, but should be only around $35.

Cats back will make a noticeable difference, and should be around $300 to $350 mark for 2.5" madrel bent. 2.5" press bent you should be able to get for around $250.

As for the air box to TB pipe - casper has the G&D box, and it still uses the stock factory piping. I have a BA pod in mine, and also use the stock piping.

If you were thinking of using 90mm PVC piping, think again. It will probably melt at some point, releasing molten plastic into the combustion chamber (might be OK if you want to drop compression for a turbo application or something, LOL).

or u drill a 3" hohle in the bottom of the airbox through into the guard and attach a 3" hose and run it to the front bar. thats that for CAI

as for extractors, i picked up a near new set from the wreckers for 60 bucks ... maybe u will be just as lucky ;)

Ok so you think that if I just get a K&N panel filter and bigger intake that this will be sufficient? Did you notice much difference when you installed your K&N filter?

With the 2.5" cat-back system on my AU I have definately noticed an improvement in performance.

No idea on the hose to be honest. If it isnt really necessary then ill brush it

Cheers
