Default The new GT-R Video

Not sure if this is what the release version will be like but it is the first video I have seen and I thought some might be interested. Looks awesome though.

I would **** this car :

It's horrendous... can't stand the looks.

I saw one (can't say if it was a GTR) around Canterbury/Bankstown area, it was blue. I was shocked because I was un-aware they were even out.

Might have been a V35 Skyline mate. These are not out as far as I know, and won't be to next year. Look how ******* fast it is. In the comparison with the 911 they are on par to my eye!

I'd expect price to be $150k and I doubt it will even be available here. Shame because the only sports Nissan we have here is the 350Z.

I hope they come out here so they push the R34 into my price range :P

For the price you would hope so and I wouldn't expect much change from $150k. I think they are going for Porsche people. Yes you have the badge and reliability with a Porsche but I would think it would be competitively priced to compensate.

When Nismo and other aftermarket go fast houses such as HKS etc get in on development on these cars we will see some very scary machines.

Thats one of the coolest cars I've seen, sounds like a plane. It just sticks to the road. Fpv have nothing like that in it's stable, they should do an xr5 version and make it all wheel drive.

So it handles better than a Porche 911 ..pfft* big deal?.........NOT!

Looks amazing and that engine had a great sounding F1 zing..........if you like that kind of Jap crap, not saying that I do or anything.

Still won't beat a 911 (997) GT3 around the ring. And the Japs have a habbit of turning up on buffed semi slicks rather than road tyres. Looks like most other GTR's so a 6/10 for me and I'm sure it is full of gizmo's. So it will appeal to boy racers rather that racers. I think the Japanese miss the real point of a car. It should be made to be a fast drivers car, rather that a car that will make an average driver fast. Until they work that out then the car will always be second best to the Euro supercars.

That video was on the ring and in the comparison shot on the same corner they were on par, although I don't know what the lap time was.

I disagree. A car that can make anyone fast is better then a car that needs a good drver. Why should you be the best driver to drive a car that cost so much? If you have the money then enjoy whatever you can afford. I thought the gtr should have been 100k because once cars get 150k then it doesnt seem so special that it goes fast. A car like a typhoon or Gt seems more special because they are really fast for the price. Yes I know a gtr would slaughter fpvs best offers but for more then double the price it bloody should.

We all know its going to be fast, but personally this just doesn't suit the Skyline nameplate, its more of a modded 350Z IMO.

How do you come to that statement?

What about it isn't Skyline worthy?

Purely just talking about styling and lines....its too sports car. IMO all previous GTR's have been tough looking. This one seems to have just a generic sports car look about it, I thought thats what the 350Z was for.

I saw one of these in Sydney, on Victoria road turning into Darling Street (Balmain/Rozelle)

Someone was really hooning it, spinning the wheels and slamming on the breaks when it almost went into the back of the car infront.

EDIT:

Sorry, i saw this:

But you haven't seen an uncovered final trimmed Skyline so you wouldn't really be able to make a call about how tough it would look.

I bet an R34 GT-R under wraps didn't look too tough either seeing as though it's aggresive front and rear would have been covered...

From what I gathered as it was hard to read. It is a 3.8l twin turbo V6 or straight 6. 0-100 in 3.99s. Don't quote me on that though.

Nissan decided not to brand the car "Skyline" rather, they are calling it the Nissa GT-R to differentiate it from the Skyline family that is still in production in Japan. Apparently the GT-R doesn't share any sheet metal with the Skyline.

From reading around - the engine will be a twin-turbo, 3.7 litre V6 (VQ37HRTT) that is in development for the 350z. Apparently the V8 threw the dynamic balance of the car out too much.

should be good if the other vq motors are anything to go by...
they sound the part...
i spose people will be angry its not an rb, but look at the 350z compared to the old 260/280z... they were inline 6, then they went to the v6 for the 300 and 350, and they werent a bad car, just a bit of a change...
