Air conditioner leaking water down inside of fire wall

Hi Members, got a AUII falcon that has started leaking water down the inside of the fire wall, it does it eratically seems to be worse in humid weather, thought it might be due to a low gas charge in the air con, will have to have it checked. Has any body had a similar problem and may be another fix my watery problem. Thanks GAv

Sounds like the condesation tank thingy is doing its job mate... Could be worse, if it was blocked, the water would be leaking onto your passenger's feet!

On theh hotter days ... and even more humid days ... i get a decent size puddle on the ground ... I got back to my ute the other day in the city (parked on a hill) ... and noticed a stream running from under it and down the gutter.

I had to check it though ... as there was a LOT of water coming out ... was just the A/C.

mine drips on the passengers feet!!
ive tried cleaning out the core thingy.. tried stuffing wire up the drain pipe.. and nothing.. still does it..
any ideas??

Same, does it at times. Well it drips on the passengers feet but I haven't done anything yet.

you might have stuff like leaves in the air con evaporator inside the car blackers.
ever taken the glove box out and the speed control thing out *assuming the au is in anyway similar to the e series setup*
there usually is a fair amount of stuff in there.
parking outside will not help things along.

water dripping from the drain onto the road is normal.
More humidity in the air = more condensation is removed via the evaporator and it needs to go somewhere!

5 minutes in the sun with ac on in my ef will leave about a puddle the size of a 40 litre bin lid. *1 foot or so in diameter

Yeah mine does it too. But mine isn't from the air con. Mine leaks everytime it rains. If I can be bothered to get off my butt on my days off I will track it down and let you all know where I found it. Should do it soon though, winter is on its way and so is the rain.

whats this about passengers feet!! both AU's ive owned (series 1 and currently series 2) have both DUMPED freezing cold water onto MY feet, not a good thing when your driving. normally happens when going around tight corners though. tried the wire up the drain trick, but didnt do anything. one day i will get in there and find the best way to get to it on the inside so as to clean any c**p out of it.
toolchick, remove the black plastic under the wipers and run a bead of silcon along the sheet metal joins as they will crack and pull apart from eachother, this is where you will be leaking from in the rain.

au2sw to get to the aircon thing.. you remove the glovebox then remove a panel that you can see there with some plugs in it from memory.. and its in behind there.. its a B1TCH to remove aye!! then it gives you a rectangle access hole that faces the passenger side that requires contortion to get into LOL

i just inserted a tube attached to the vacume cleaner with stickytape to suck alot of the crud out

what I did on the ef, was use a bit of hot water to dislodge any mucky stuff from inside the bottom of the airbox. They do tend to build up some really nasty stuff over time ;)
and wipe down all the fins on the evap core if you can, this will also make the air con work a bit better too - if it was blocked up by dust/pollen etc.

If it has automatic climate control it can also leak out of the evaporator at the grommet where the evaporator sensors enters if the sensor has fallen down inside the evaporator so the anti-drip loop isn't in the sensor lead. This needs a pic; I see what I can find. If so just seal it with silastic.

Thanks everyone, got a few ideas to try, i was not aware that the carpet was soaked underneath till i went looking for the source of a mouldy smell, the foam backing on the carpet certainly holds some water, got about 2 cups out the other day. Cheers Gav

yeah sounds like its got a bit of a leak there. You can unhook the drain pipe and clean that out - outside of the car as they can mould up inside there.
get some sort of dis infectant too as that is part of an air con service, but no bugger ever does it.
