Petrol territory at that, I don't recon there would be many diesel powered cars that wouldnt be more fuel efficient then petrol power in the same car, otherwise what would the point be of having diesel?

Good on Holden, they're reacting well to the market and taking every opportunity they can. At least they're giving it a go, what has Ford really brought to the market in the last 2 or so years? Oh thats right, new sticker sets for the FPV's.

The thing is though ... the Captiva is 25% smaller than the Territory as well. So it's not all that good on economy ... I would have expected it to be 50% more economical than the Territory.
Would be interesting to see the real world economy figures on it ... not just initial speculation.

Oh and its a shitbox to drive with a substandard interior and terrible controls.
I know what id prefer, and it would probarly use 50% more fuel (turbo Territory)

I also found it interesting how they attempted to place this piece of crap in the same market as the revered Territory. HAving just recently purchased a Ghia, I can't wrap the car enough.

People creamed themselves when Holden released all these sexy commercials about the VE COmmodore when in reality, the BFII is not far behind at all. People cream over the Toyota Corolla and however reliable it is, it promotes turning to stone behind the wheel. The fact is that at the moment as people's minds warp and become befuddled with panic, they'll choose crap over something that resembles quality or style. So I think you'll see a few Captivas sold. A lot of people will not the RACQ article. |

Moreover the engine in my opinion that is most likely to go in the Territory, the 2.7 V6 from the Discovery achieves 9.4 l/100 km in the massive Discovery 3. In the lighter Territory this would improve greatly to perhaps 8.5 or better. Whilst the Captiva is still better at 7.6, just check the figures. 110Kw vs 140kw whilst in the torque, it is 320Nm vs 440Nm. The Territory with this motor would be a bloody steam train! The trouble is of course that the Captiva diesel is in the showroom now! |

I've got an idea so follow me. A camera pans out of a long shot of the horizon to a korean flag, and than pans out further to show a Holden flag flying next to it. As the camera moves back toward ground we see a giant factory with DAEWOO INC splashed on it. Camera starts moving in toward the building and we see a little man with big glasses and a grey suit on going "Ohhhh Herrroooo!" - It's Kim Jong Il, and he says "I cannot Berrieve Austrarians buy Howrden from here. Herroooo!" Then we go off screen to show the Holden model line up, then show the video of the Barina crash test. Back to Kim Jong Il, "We not tewrr anyone..... Now get da *** outta here". I think it might educate a few people.

Ahhh people people people.... you're forgetting that the motoring public is dumb as a bag of hammers! These same retards buy the new Barina... even after it scored the worst ever NCAP rating for a car sold in Australia!
Let them have their cake and when they choke on it, you can point and laugh.

Have you seen the Barinas? Woff
A daepoo for holden money, especially when Holden drivers on average tend to be less safe than say a Mercedes driver; the last thing they need is cars that fail the crash test. Anyone who wants to buy a Korean cross over should look at the Trajet (pronounced tragedy), and not the skinny and tall Daepoo/Bogan/Holden hunk a ****. See you guys in a couple of days; I'm off to work.

Putting the barina in the same mould as captiva means you are also cut from the same bag of hammers. This hear hammer decided against the territory on the facts ( unlike your fantasies) of my dad's two territories that rattled and fell apart before his eye's with ford's usual denial. Captiva has scored an excellent euro safety rating and with esp, awd, tcs, arp, abs, ebd,ba,curtain air bags ect... the captiva is currently miles ahead of the terrie on passive and active safety. After 5,500 klms of trouble free motoring my cake is tasting sweeter everyday and the only one laughing is me. |

I'm not comparing the Barina to the Captiva - I'm saying that even though the Barina scored very very badly in crash tests, people ignore that and will still buy it because its CHEAP and "looks nice". Same principle applies to the Captiva's marketing bullcrap which basically says "ZOMG TEH TERRITORYSSS IS TEH GAS GUZZLERS!!1111 OMG ROFLCOPTER AND TEH CAPTIVA IS 25% MORE EFFICIENT!!!$111". They ignore the fact that yes ok its more fuel efficient but it also has an engine which is half the size of the one that comes with the Territory AND is a smaller vehicle! Anyway, you missed my point and if you think the motoring public is smart then... well, you go your way and I'll go mine.

If indeed you had two territories that fell apart I'd say that it was more of a dealer/servicing problem than anything else. What I mean is, the territory has received rave reviews from owners and motoring journo's whilst maintaining an excellent resale value, far higher than that of the falcon. That you had two with problems I don't doubt, but that you had two falling apart is a bit rich. As for the captiva, they are two different vehicles (regardless of what Holden think), and one has german and american engineering, the other korean. Wait until the daewoo captiva starts to require servicing, wait until you take it to a holden dealership for warranty repairs and wait until you try to resell it. Then tell us about how your captiva craps all over a locally designed and built proud Australian product instead of Kim Jong Il's b|tch. (Yes I'm aware of Kim being from North Korea and daepoo being from South Korea)

GMH might like to think its a Territory competitor but its more in the RAV4 category. The narrower body counts against it relative to the Territory - try seating 3 adults across the second row or try fitting a baby capsule and two child seats in the 2nd row, then try in the Territory. Territory is a family car, Captiva is for young dinks.
