so im heading off to heathcote this weekend for some qtr mile action...
it will be my first time on a strip, you guys gets any tips to get off the line quickly and a half decent 0-60 time? |

ill be doing as many as i can. gates open 11 - 4. my mates tells me to expect about 15-20 runs depending on how busy the track is

if its an auto and has abs pull the wiring connector off the abs module, i found it easier to stall up and take off harder. but the best thing to do is just practice and see what works best for you and the car. I have a XR8 Auto and found if i let the wheels spin off the line a bit it gave me a better time

my pointers are:
drop ur tyre pressure down to 27 psi, and launch it at 4000rpm shift as quick as u can! flat shift 3rd to 4th (involves real quick shifting)

I also like using my handbrake to limit slippage. quick shifting from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th is easy, however take your time and concentration for 2nd to 3rd as its the most important shift to get right and most likely to bugger up. i got my 60 footers well below the 2sec mark, but i had some very nice sticky tyres and i was racing at a drag meet and nice tubbed mustang lied down some fat tracks for me. i started with 2.2sec 60 footers before getting more and more involved into racing. also as a comparison my AWD ran 1.5sec 60 footers on my auto box ... yet to trial my manual without breaking it.
