Default steering noise

when the wheel is center and I go to turn left or right there is a clunking/knocking noise. It also seems tight to move but then frees up after about 2 degrees of wheel movement.

any ideas fellas.

Very common is what I know, mine does it to, have read in the past steering rack is knackered, have also read adjustment is required, I've just been putting up with it till I need some new tyres (sum time off) then I 'll get it seen to, you'll have a few answers soon with people who have had this same problem and had fixed.
