AU III Fairmont Wagon Dilemma

G'day, I'm a newie. I have a really nice EF Fairmont Wagon and it's immaculate, XR8 wheels, white with tinted windows and still going strong but I'm gettin' itchy for an upgrade and would love to get into a BA series Fairmont Wagon but found out that after the AU III they don't make 'em. The best you can do is a Futura which is pretty much an XT with P/Windows in the front and Alloys.....big deal.

So the only way I can get my Fairmont interior....(I love all those creature comforts) is to go for a Territory TS, all i'd need is a 2WD, or a
AU III Fairmont wagon.

Can anybody help me find a good source to find one of these animals? I've tried all the Carpoint, CarSales.coms, trading Post Drive.com etc and theres not many around.
I found an absolute ripper AU III, White (it has to be white) 16" alloys, the right price but it's got a 5 LTR V8 in it.

Any help or ideas would be really appreciated

Mate buy the 8 they are a well refined engine and going by hear say are pretty good on fuel, definately better than a BA 6

you could always get a BA Futura wagon and do it up to Fairmont specs....FTG auto salvage (site sponsor) can upgrade the ICC (command center) in the dash to the fairmont one, as well as add anything really, and im pretty sure with little work the fairmont interior will go into a wagon.

im trying to convince my folks to do just that

that said, my folks currently have an AU2 Fairmont wagon and love it.... its a lovely car, only just gone 100,000km and is like new.

AU III Fairmont V8 wagon you say. Probably the only model rarer would be a T3 TL50 or BF LTD. I was searching for one a while ago, and really wanted one of the last off the line, since it is the last luxury V8 wagon Ford built anywhere in the world.

AUII or AUII fairmont wagons are easy enough to find and generally worthless as although rare no one wants them as they are not collectable or sought after like say a subaru forester is.

I felt i gave mine away at $11k and that was $5k over the worst offer i had.

But AU III 5.0 Fairmont wagons are pretty thin on the ground. Moot point for me since my wife can't drive a Falcon unless it has power pedals.

Thanks. Thats what sold me on the car. The outside is very basic Fairlane.

Basic Fairlane? At least your's won't be mistaken for a Futura like a BA/BF Fairlane!

It's white, they look like 16 or 17" alloys, Sill body kit & nicely tinted windows and all the Fairmont creature comforts I want (except the Dual-Zone Aircon you get in the BA's
I'll try an attach a pic of my EF Fairmont. (I'm a bit new at this)

Thats why I decided the only AU I was ever going to get would be a Fairmont Ghia. The interior is so much better than the povo pack. Stepped into an optioned up povo pack BA in the end lol.

I wouldn't imagine the 5.0L Windsor would drink too much more fuel than the BA 6cyl. And they are nice to drive. The BA 5.4 is a drinker though!

If you can afford it I would go for it. Keep it nice and it would probably be worth more then an average Fairmont wagon in the future.

Go for LPG like my barge. I still average 11L per 100km and it's cheap

^^^^i was just going to say that...damnit. LPG is the best option if you worry about fuel costs. my wagon is the "povo" pack, but at least its not ex taxi with a million miles on the clock (ticked over today to 100,000) at around the 3g mark for an inline mixer set up to around 4 1/2g for SVI minus the 2g gment rebate, its definitly the way to go as LPG is roughly around half the cost of ULP

I drive a V8 LTD and in spite of the size and weight of it, it still gets better fuel ecconomy than my old DL did and that was a 6, from what others have been saying on here the 8 fares pretty well fuel wise and supprisingly does do better than the BA 6cyl
