i did it, i added a K&N but prob gonna replace it with a pof filter soon

K&N. Itll probably work out cheaper in the long run. You will never have to change it again, just clean it now and again.

I'm with The Monty. K & N all the way.

It'll work out way cheaper over time and give you more and cleaner air into the engine.

I put them into both my AU's. They don't need cleaning very often either.

K&N filters are durable but overpriced & overated. Foam filter have crap flow but good filtration (suitable off road etc).Go for a 3A Racing pod filter(reusable) from autobarn etc, $35 (k&n retail $120+) . In autosaloons magazine it beat all the big names for flow & finished 2nd in filtration. K&N was either sixth or seventh. Buy an EF airbox & mount the pod inside. Problem solved.

what about panel vs pod...also my mate had one of those pods with the custom piping that went down to the bottom of the engine back almost stuck out. it made a HUGE power difference

dont know bout these Pods, it makes my car doughy as hell down low, but up top it gains a fair bit higgher in the rev range i personally dont like that, Plus with the panel you get throttle response which u can feel at the press of the accelerator unlike the pod its doughy as.

I have a redline filter panel filter ... looks exactly like a K&N filter ... but for $80 is cheaper ... and does the same thing.

Much cheaper thamn replacing the paper filter all of the time ... was the first mod I did ... and I have had it in now for about 130,000km ... still looks new after cleaning.

Performance difference ... I really doubt there is any at all. It will save me over time though.

Get a unifilter mine works fine and is piece of **** to clean and re oil,get a ba xr8 snorkel too,it all helps.

If you're planning on keeping the car for a few years, then got the K&N, but if not don't bother. There is possibly a small performance difference, but being reusable you eventually start to save money - still you'd have to go through like 10 factory filters before you even get to the same cost as a K&N!

the reason for installing a K&N is performance not the replacement i noticed better bottom end response when i installed mine this is a worthwile mod to help get your car breathing

Mike do a search, I have seen numerous threads on CAI mods, just can't remember where I've seen it (I ended up printing 5 pages on mods that was posted by a forum member yonkls ago and it had the CAI mods). Hope this helps

Actually, people usually quote the savings as an advantage. Not saying there's no performance gain, I've got one myself, but I often do wonder how much of that tiny gain is really just the placebo affect!
