Timing Issues?

Hi, I have read that because my ED has electronic ignition that "pinging" is impossible?
Well mine is doing it, running really bad.
Very rough on start-up, idle etc.
What part or parts needs replacing, I assume some form of sensor?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Maybe dirty/leaking injectors.. could be a few things, plugs, leads, dirty fuel filter, would look at these first, head gasket worst case.. hope this helps..

My BA pings! Where did you read that 'cause I'd like to hit the author over the head with their own book.

As far as the sensors go maybe O2 or engine temp? Dunno. Wouldn't think the Map or TPS would effect that. I would start with things like plugs and leads first like Addz08 suggested then work your way onto the more complex parts. Maybe the ignition module is breaking down.
