Hey, Got the crappy standard 6 stack cd player in my au xr8 and have no idea how to get the thing out???? Wanna replace it with my kenwood deck, seeing as the stock one wants to eat my cds!!!
Ive heard stuff about coathangrs but dont really understand wat needs to be done?? Cheers |

They are evil items ... my preferred choice of weapon is a crowbar ... but that can do a bit of damage :hihi:
There are special tools out there to remove the headunit ... and there's a few threads on here about modifying coat hangers to remove the headunit ... sometimes though ... they don't unclip from the cradle and can be a pain to remove.

Last two I took out of my previous cars I had to destroy the whole unit.
The coat hanger metheod is basically cut one up and form a U shape with the wire. Stick it in the holes and hope for the best!

Whereabouts are you located?
You are best to use allen keys around the same size as the holes in the deck or the specially made prongs. These are stronger than the coathanger steel that tends to bend. |

Try the allen keys and sometimes you can get one side at a time free and then it will slide out. Good luck |

u can buy the proper tools from ford parts. mine cost me about $20 from memory. u just slide these in, they click and then pull the unit out. heaps easier

If all else fails try the baseball bat method,worked for me!, how to somewhere in the tech section I think
