Hey guys/girls im after a LSD for my 2002 forte. I don't know what one to buy or where i could get one from.
my cousin said get one from a wrecker out of a xr8 as they have a lsd and 4:11 ratio or something like that. would i be better off taking the whole diff or just taking the lsd out of it? any other ones?? can i get them brand new?? if so how much roughly? |

LSD was standard in XR's up to mid AUII, from about Jun/Jul 2001 XR6HP had optional LSD but XR6VCT and XR8 kept it as standard. Ratio is 3.45, definitely not 4.11.

dont forget, you will need to upgrade speedo drive at the box, as the change in diff gearing will put it out of whack. ie, will show lower speed then what your actually doing.

A diff out of a wrecked XR8 won't fit either as you're a live axileer, not an IRS shock mount killer.

should be a straight swap if you can get a live axle slippery. not 100% sure about IRS slippery centers fitting to live axles, could be a straight swap of the gears? good luck with it.

I bought myself a LSD out of and XR and it was live axle. There are live axle lsds out there, trouble would be finding one, and the speedo gear u need is black not grey, they are bout $12 from ford spare parts, they have 23 teeth on them. Cheerz
