Last Friday morning the panic alarm (Personal safety alarm red button on key pad) on my XR went off at 3:00am. Needless to say I woke with a bit of a start and went to find out what was going on.
Found nothing out of the ordinary. So I turned off the panic alarm in the car and went back to bed, only to have it go off again at 4:00am. Again I got up went to see what was going on and turned off the panic alarm. 6:00 am rolls around and I am in the shower. The panic alarm goes panic alarm goes off again. This time my wife goes and turns off the panic alarm and notices that the key pad's "little red light" is flashing. After checking the battery voltage and circuits on the PCB, I found that the batteries were a bit low and replaced them. So far so good no rude awakenings in the middle of the night by the car yet. Hope my experience helps someone in the future. :hihi: Last edited by Tech Trainer; 03-03-2007 at 10:02 AM. Reason: Clarification |

Happens with mine too if one of the kids leaves one of the lights in the back on.. or the glovebox is left open. Anything that basically drains the battery to a certain point sets it off.

As dumb as this question is...
How do you turn off the panic alarm if you accidentally press the keypad or if it goes off on its own accord? I have never had it happen and figure I may as well know for when it does.

I thought it might be something like; press lock twice, do a twirl, open and close the door 3 times, get in push the brake pedal twice, then accelerator to the floor whilst opening the glove box and sounding the horn. :P
