 : some scumbag low life *beepbeepbeep* broke into my ute last weekend and i have the ford factory fitted alarm installed ... and it didin't go off ... smashed a window and opened the door and took everything inside ... wallet cds GPS and a few other things all while i was standing about 30mtrs away from the ute .. i've taken it to ford in gosford .. they said they tested it and worked fine ... i go to pick it up ... jump in lock it up to arm it ... open the door ... nothing (  : good testing guys :jab: ) .... what do i do? insurence won't cover anything in the ute ... can i make ford pay for the stuff in the ute? |

Ford would be limited to fixing the alarm if under warranty

i found this the same ... i could open my doors, and break in without the alarm going off .... it's only until i go to start the car that it beeps ...
so i installed an aftermarket one ... you might want to look into that ... there awsome

I have the factory alarm.. (BA)
As soon as i Open the door it goes off, and it even goes off if the door is unlocked with the key! (Ie. door lock changes state to unlocked) |

yeh my old mans gt will go off if they car is rocked or the door is opened or unlocked with the key and opened

I have an after market alarm , when I open the boot before opening the doors it goes off ,and the siren goes off when it feels like it.Sitting at lights , in the garage ETC.So i Turned of the main siren with the key.Now all that goes of is the under dash siren.

The Ford factory one one the Au LTD is certainly cheap and nasty.
I was having trouble with false alarms all the time. The guys on here pointed me in the right direction to find the alarm module. It has a sensitivity control that you can adjust ( for motion sensing ). I put the screwdriver in the hole to adjust it and the adjuster just bent ( no force needed )so I had to take the whole thing out to adjust it. It should sense the current drop though and go off if the interior light came on. If the interior light wasn't coming on and the motion sensor was set too low then that could explain why it didn't go off |

I dont know if I should post this but anyway, I imagine anyone wanting to steal a car already knows so...
I dont know about the factory setups, but most aftermarket ones arent any better when the thief knows what they are doing. When my car got ripped a couple of years ago from out front of my house, they used a screw driver to gently pry the ds rear window out to slowly equalise pressure inside and out, then just smashed the window. Reached in, pulled the interior light globe and switched the ones over the rear seats off to defeat any power drop sensors. We noticed the way they did once we recovered it. Many thieves are crafty, and know plenty of other thieves, and just like the forum, they share information. It doesnt take em long to work out the weakness in most things fairly quickly after its release. A garage, and insurance for when it isnt in there is about all you can do. Even the garage isnt safe. |

If ford tested the alarm and they say its fine, i doubt they'll pay for your stolen stuff.

Ahh well funny you should mention security - I'm moving to a place that doesn't have a garage and would be fairly easy to nick my car... being an older Ford the model has been done over by thieves so they know how to knock them off easy.
So what I am doing is getting a wheel clamp. My cousin tells me some auto stores have them and they are not that expensive. Try stealing it now, 4ssholes! Doesn't help stopping them getting in and nicking stuff but at least your entire car isn't going to go.

Get insurance that covers incidentals inside the car... I'm surprised your doesn't already cover it.

Sorry to hear, It is a horrible feeling.
Was it parked in your drive way and do you have house insurance??? I once had a car broken into in my parents drive way and there house insurance covered most of what was stolen..... Kev

As above, check your contents insurance. There are policies that cover car contents. My F6 has the FPV alarm which does off on the odd occasion when it feels like it ... doesn't inspire one with confidence. |
