G'day fellas
My 2000 Series 2 XR8 is just about to have it's 3rd radiator replaced due to micro fractures causing small amounts of coolant to escape. Has anyone else had similar probs(seeing if it's a common fault)? All 3 radiators have been genuine Ford items and now I'm looking at a copper cored heavy duty version any thoughts.

Unfortunately it's common, I have fitted a copper core radiator to my XR8, not too keen on throwing money away on alloy units which won't perform any better for my use.

mine had a pin hole at about 90000 k`s ,always serviced and used correct coolant i believe now it was electrolysis but just previouse to that found a loose battery cable at the engine but i`m only guessing, i`m also thinking of gettin a copper core for the next one.

It's been in since July last year, went to QLD in October last year towing a caravan, encountered 30+ deg days and sat on speed limit +5 including up hill and temp never went past 1/2 on guage.

very common problem unfortunately. Get a good quality copper core assembly and it will fix the problem.

Adrad make 3 rowers... Natrad only imports the lower quality stuff :( A copper/brass core is the way to go, and the Adrad Plastic tanks are alot better than genuine Ford. To this day i am still yet to find a mass manufacturer who does Brass tanks... mind you, i can make them myself :P

Adrad will tell you to drill a small bypass hole in your thermostat to stop 'thermal shock' which is the cause of the plastic tanks cracking. Failure to do this will void any warranty on their radiators.

Yep, I agree... some thermostates have a "jiggle pin"... i'd suggest removing that entirely.

It depends on the way you drive and the conditions you put it through.

PWR make awesome Aluminium products. The biggest problem is for general use, is the lack of repair options.
