Default installing sunroof

just wondering if has anyone put thier own aftermarket sunroof into thier AU?
I purchased a universal sunroof that I intend to install myself, but was just wondering if hacking away at my roof would cause any damage to the structual integrity of the car (I heard the roof provides quite a bit of structual support).
Are there likeley to be any crossmembers that need to be cut and modified around the sunroof?
Is this a job best left to a pro, or is it as basic as I am hoping....?
any pointers before i pull out the angle grinder and tinsnips would be great, cheers.

Someone wrote up, something on fordmods.com, about doing this to an e-series.

Just hope you get the seals right. Otherwise hello water!!!

OK, i decided to do it myself to save cash, and now that its done, I'm glad I didnt fork out $ for someone else to do what was reletiveley simple.
Other than saving money, It gave me inspiration to start the re-upholstry of the car in white vinyl too

If anyone else is looking to do the same just as a referance this is how i did it and ive had no leaks.

- remove your roof lining for starters so you dont set fire to it
- cover up the interior of the car with a woolen blanket so you dont get burn holes from anything
- I cut a template out of cardboard to match the fitting size of the sunroof and traced it onto the roof with a whiteboard marker
- cut the roof out with an angle grinder (while my mates told me i should take it to a professional thinking id 'ForK' it up), might I add, dont do this on a wet day - lol
- the sunroof slotted straight in and sealed it outside and in with silicon adhesive
- cut a hole in the internal roof liner slightly larger than the sunroof
- bought a big sheet of vinyl (cost about $12) and some spray on contact adhesive and put the 2 together using a hair dryer to make the vinyl more plyable
- sprayed all the trims with blue paint as contrast to the white and put it all back together.
- More than happy with the result, no leaks, it gives the feeling of a bigger interior with the sunroof, and with the new vinyl roof and blue trims the car looks like its worth $4000 over what it used to. (also theres no holes where there used to be a ''taxi" sign!)

Would recommend anyone to do it themself, it took less than 2 hours to install.
