Would I be foolish to buy a BA/F now or should I wait until after Orion comes out and get one way cheaper?

Either way I doubt anything will happen to increase their value. I'd wait and see.

Any superceded model will generally be cheaper, unless Orion sucks, which will make BFs especially attractive to second hand buyers. I think some people went for ELs when AU came out...
It's inevitable.

Yes you probably wiil get a better deal in a few months, but I imagine they are pretty keen at the moment to get rid of vehicles. Either way good luck with your decision.

If you wanted to buy a new or near new BF, then I would do it now.
But if your budget is tight, and you were after a 2002-2003ish BA, then personally I would hold out until next year. But everybody's different. |

depends whether your buying a car, or trading the existing one for a new one
waiting for orion and keeping your BA will mean you get the BFII runout cheaper and poor tradein on the BA selling the BA and getting BFII now will pretty much even out with higher value for BA at this current moment then with a new falcon out and of course getting one now you get to select some colour options which wont be available next year.....or you wait and see what next year brings in colour

on the other hand if you're after a bf2 xr8 or ghia, then orion will probably make a big difference in the price of one and you'll be in front financially if you wait till then. and all the other models will fit between there somewhere. i think if you're worried about the budget then do your homework carefully. i lost $10k in a year on a ba ghia - bought at too high a price. $200 a week is a lot to lose in a year on depreciation alone and a lot of cars bought new will see you losing those sorts of amounts. i'll be more careful next time considering a 3 or 4 year old car doesn't feel much different to a 1 year old car and is often half the price. |

i went for a new BF a few weeks ago; i love the shape of the car, the options available, the road presence etc.
While it is possible the Orion may have all of this, this is the model that i enjoyed the most so i went for it. No regrets.

for my sake i want the orion to drop BA xr8 prices like its hot. then again there are plenty that would hate for it to happen..
i suppose it just depends on how good the orion is, if its crap the BAs will stay the same or go up, if the orion is the bee's knees it might hurt em... in reality if there is plenty of demand for the BA/BF range, prices wont go down.. simple

yeah i don't think it matters when you buy to any large degree- it's all relative . Falcons will always lose huge money ,so you may as well buy it when its current and new.You can wait until they are superseded and get a better deal but they will then depreciate harder and faster as the new model is out.

its like supply and demand, if people want the orion, they will sell up their ba/bf to get one, and then there will be more on the market, they will realise that their car isnt selling because there are ones cheaper than them so they will most likely put the price down. Congrats on the new buy!

Were do you draw the line? Yes, BA/F's will continue to drop in value (every car d9oes the older it gets). So you could wait for Orion to come out and they'll be cheaper by then, you could wait for Orion Mark 2 and they'll be cheaper againt, you could even wait for the next model to replace Orion and they'll be even cheaper again. So where do you draw the line on how long to wait for the price to drop?
