Inside water leak, passenger side.

Hi All, after doing some searching i know there has been much talk about water leaks mainly drivers side ie firewall problems with manuals.My problem is that when my car has been parked in the rain, water starts to leak in under the dash near the top of the fan housing and down the air door to the back of the glove box and onto the floor mat when the car is moving along and going around corners not stationary.No leaks when i wash the car.Has anyone else had this problem?Any ideas etc.

Thats weird Dude .. May be a Small Crack in the Firewall or a Seal has let go under the dash ..

I Had my AU inder 1 meter of water doing a river crossing and no a dribble of water came inside ..

Sure it isn't the heater core leaking?

Seem a few members have this problem. I hope the AU hasnt carried over with the same proble as the good old XE, they use to rust in the pillan (spelling) chamber, that caused me a few headaches but got it fixed when me and dad resprayed it.
All you can do is try and source where its coming from the rectify the problem.

how is your windscreen seal ? it might be worth a look .

Thanks for the replys.The windscreen was replaced back in March this year due to a crack.No problems with leaks until a few months ago, seals all ok.I took the car back to the windscreen place for them to test for any leaks.They first put the hose on the firewall and then on the plenum chamber cover,water leaked inside.They then put the hose on the windscreen and then removed the trim around the screen,no leaks located.The guys said the leak could from cracking in the firewall and or the plenum chamber,a brokern grommet in the firewall and poor drainage.The plenum chamber looks all ok and clean but there is mud and leaves in the drainage area at the bottom near the door frame and guard.Any tips in cleaning this area.

I am not sure if this will help, but I own an EL Fairmont Ghia, there is a drain that comes from the air con and drains water out through the firewall through a rubber hose with an elbow in it. The engine sound/heat deadening stuff moves and blocks the air con drain which forces the water to leak into the left side of the car.

If this is it, you need to get under the car on the passenger side and move the deadening so that the tube can drain properly.

the probelm i hav come across is with manual au's over time the spot welds on the fire wall come apart from the pressure of the brake pedal.

This leak is on the passengers side though

Well Big Trev, I had a look at the air con drain pipe today.The drain is well clear of the firewall by about 2 inches.I used some nylon wire in the pipe to clear any blockage.I will have to keep looking for the cause of problem.Thanks again.

The insulation stuff pushes up and blocks the pipe by kinking it the wrong way

The section of pipe is sticking out straight.I will have another look next weekend.
