Default Black Au2 Xr Wheels

started painting my xr wheels today, just done them in a super etch black primer for now, ill get them painted by a proper paint shop early next year.

i like the look of it, did the calipers in blue today aswell. hopefully have the back 2 done by the weekend, i dont really want to drive round on the weekend fully hektic drift spec.

what do you think?

Looks good mate. Did you take the tickford wings off the centrecaps or just ,ask them out and paint around them?

Will look good if clearcoated after the final pant to give it that gloss.

took the tickford badges out of the centre caps, there is a hole behind the centre caps, just push a screw driver through that and it pops the badge out.

personally i think in the top foto it looks like you have stocko rims on both wheels.
Second photo shows better detail and looks better though im not a fan.
i dont mind the calipers though.
I have the same wheels and want to do them white.

I had a set of OZ racing wheels on mine the AU 5 spoke V8 supercar wheels painted black on my black car i thought it looked sweet. I like yours it'll be interesting to see it with the blue wall tyres

PS:- It could definitly be lower as well that would set it of. Sorry the lower the better IMHO

Looks great. I had a set of mine painted gold with the blue (very wrx-ish), but it looked good. The black looks great. I can recommend white knight metallic charcoal - it's a very shiny black, and the colour I have just done 2 of my SVO rims on the EL. The other 2 will be done this weekend (it's a PITA job, cleaning masking up etc - it took me 3 hours for 2 rims!). I also did about 6 coats of clear enamel over the top.

I like it for something different. I had black TE50 17's on my Fairmont for a while, but have since had them powdercoated back to silver. It all depends on the car, while black looked great I think the silver suits my car better now. Gloss or semi-gloss will look better once they're finished, the matte is a bit too stocko maybe. Cheers.

I like, I'm still toying with getting my rims powder coated in the same colour as the F6 Dark Agent rims. Once I get two new rims that is :

When I did mine I didn't use any masking tape (other than valve stem).

I let the air out of the tyres and used cards. Same as the guy in the link but I overlapped my cards by about 1" so didn't need masking tape.

(Dialups beware... pics take a while to load but is a pretty good "how-to")

Hard to say what I honestly think at the moment, I like them but in a way its almost as if they're "lacking" something - I think some sort of gloss would probably do them a little more justice than the current finish.

I wouldn't mind painting my calipers red to match the car, but then I'd look like too much of a poser with wannabe-brembo's - your blue ones look awesome though.

Don't knock the red calipers, I did that to mine and it looks fine. Although the red premos that are going on will look better.

Each unto their own. I'm not a big fan of black painted rims as such. It makes them look like you're running on the spare steelies and the wheel nuts stand out like dogs gonads.

everyones taste is different, the wheels were hacked up from parking (all 4 wheels were scratched when i got it). and i hated the scratch marks on the spokes.

this is what i prefer, i see heaps of cars who have had this done to there stock wheels and i think it looks good. one of my favourites is a cv8 monaro with this done to his 18's.

If you mean the side of the spokes back to original silver, I agree and would like to see it. Might break it up a bit.

I love the look. Benn wanting to do this to my rims for a long time. Not black, maybe a dark gun metal grey colour. I think they look fantastic.

What I think would look nice just to finish it off, is some blue walls. Just a thin strip.

blue walls are getting done, just waiting till the rims are painted properly and the rear tyres are replaced.

here is a photochop i did ages ago to see if i liked it. got the ideas from my sisters friends he had black 19" roh furys on his vs with green walls looks good.

so all i need to work on in this picture is the blue walls, and the tint. i want to get it lowered aswell but its all time and money.
