Default thermo fans operation

my mum has an au series 2 fairmont and the air con takes forever to cool is there some way that i can re wire the thermos to come onto high speed when the airconditioner is turned on. the unit was regassed a year ago

Yes, any auto elec shold be able to do it at less than the cost of a gas.

I dont know what benefit that will do to anything - unless the engine is running hot there is no point in touching the thermo's.

Sounds like your air con is buggered - getting that fixed will solve the heat in the cabin.......

He doesnt seem to have a problem with the cars engine heat just the air cond effectiveness at start up. The air cond condensor unit needs cooling (air flow) for it to work properly which is why many cars have a fan mounted on the front of it which activates when turned on. (to increse effectiveness) On some models they have staged fans which come on at various stages at different speeds and overide to flat out when the air cond is activated. By mounting a small thermo at the front of the condensor or by having an auto elec alter the fans to full boost at air activation should definately have some effect on the overall efficiency of the air con.
See how much room there is and check out the wreckers. Pajero's for instance have the small condensor fan up front. If it will fit up front this would be the better option as it would be independant.
