Default EPA queries

Hi ppl

To cut a long story short i got pulled up on x-mas(off all days) and cop said: where gonna send you a letter to have your car EPA tested for my exhaust anyway got the letter, i have till the 14th of feb to fix it. detail of my car is EL XR6 stock engine, has herrod extractors and a red back cat exhaust system. My Question is should i be worried will it be to loud if i take it there as is, would it be emitting to much stuff to be unsafe or should i be alright ? i did query getting it quietened down will cost me about $150. so should i be worried a lot or a little and has anyone dealt with the exhaust shop in Tullmarine off Carrick drive.

thanks greatly baya

Trust me it will be to loud as it is, put a standard system on it when it gets tested...

I had a mate who got a standard system tested, and it was 93dba, now im not sure what the limit was, but im pretty sure its under 100, so basically, any nice sounded after market catback will put you over the limit, its BS

Just fit a well baffled muffler... No point in changing whole system...

Make sure your cat is working because they will test for noise and emissions.

Yes.. the FPV open day from a few years ago was a debarcle of grand proportions.. a mate had his Phase 3 reported for excessive noise, doing nothing wrong mind you, just leaving the event in front of the Epa.. he didnt get pulled over mind you, just a letter in the mail.
It had a full original New old stock exhaust system fitted. it cost him half a days work and $100 to prove it was fully legal.
