I dont know a lot about cars but could some one tell me, is there much difference to a 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre size motor? Would you be able to feel the difference? An new car we are looking at comes in both sizes and not quite sure.
Thanks

It's not the size of the motor it's how you use it.

i drove a friends Accent a few years ago and i was very surprised at how much zip it had for such a small motor. |

Yes you will feel the difference, very much so if you know that you are 'feeling' lol
My Festiva is a 1.5, and I was helping a mate buy a small car, there happened to be the same mod festiva not far from my house, also advertised as a 1.5. Went there, took it for a test drive... after the first in gear acceleration test, I looked across at the bloke and advised him that his car is either weak or a 1.3... (well, words to that effect) He wanted to debate this, and stopped debating when he saw may car parked on the side of the road. A quick inspection of the engine bay did indeed reveal it was a 1.3l. So yes, in these small cars, every kw lost can be felt, so spend the very small amount of extra money needed for the 1.5, It's about 25% more power over the 1.3 and very worth it. |

The 1.5 will last longer, feel better up hills, better with passengers, and wont cost any more to run (you wont notice any cost difference anyway).

Don't get an auto...please for the love of god. An auto with that small of an output will drive you nuts. I hate the 1.3L Echo I drive sometimes at work...it has an auto, and it couldn't pull skin off custard...couldn't even ripple skin on custard.

If you're going auto get the 1.5, it will perform about the same as the 1.3 in a manual.

Thanks again guys, we have gone for a 1.6 litre getz. Test driven both, and the getz feel like its got more get up and go maybe because of its slightly bigger engine.. yes its korean, but for its price and range of features its well worth $16500 drive away compared to a 1.5 litre yaris for something like 19. The Getz has a nicer interior and feels more ruggered than the yaris. Cant beat the 5 year/unlimited km warranty neither.

Much better choice then a Yaris.
A mate has a Yaris 1.5 Auto. Ugh. It is SO SLOW! You get overtaken by the newer Turbodiesel European vans under full throttle.... Apparantley they go better with the manual... but he used to say my old Fiesta Zetec 1.6 5sp manual felt like a Ferrari in comparison to the Yaris.
